Review: Emma Scott's "Unbreakable."

Synopsis:

Alex Gardener has her life planned out, down to the smallest detail. She has a skyrocketing career as a litigation attorney, a close group of socialite friends, and is engaged to one of the most successful businessmen in Beverly Hills. Everything is just as she wants it: comfortable, predictable, secure…if lacking passion. Fire.

Cory Bishop is a struggling working man, trying to make ends meet while fighting to keep custody his young daughter. He knows that working hard is the only way to achieve his goals, but lately it seems everything he wants hangs just out of reach.

The bank robbery changes everything.

Alex and Cory spend three harrowing days as hostages locked in a bank with fifty frightened people and six criminals who grow more desperate--and dangerous--by the hour. Alex and Cory find comfort and safety with each other and reveal their deepest hopes and fears and secrets, unknowingly building a bond forged out of desperation and fear, one that they can’t break, even once outside the bank’s walls.

Their lives are turned upside down, irrevocably altered, and they seek to move on and put the robbery--and each other--behind them.

But some bonds, once forged, cannot be broken.

Review: Jo

I have had this on my kindle for some time now, so when Emma Scott recently changed the cover, it prompted me to make it my next read. To have a book by Emma that was left unopened on my kindle was a crime. I quickly dived in and what I found was a romance that I adored. Cory and Alex made the perfect couple and the premise of their story was one that held me captive from beginning to end.

“Tomorrow it may hurt, but not now. Not now.”
She leaned in, kissed my earlobe then whispered hotly in my ear,
“Tonight…I’m yours.”

At the beginning of this story, I met Alex, a hardworking lawyer who enjoyed the finer things in life. Engaged to a man who was very similar to Alex, with a life that was focused around their career and not much else. Alex's relationship just didn’t seem to involve any love or passion, and I soon learned that she was missing out on so much heat, desire and excitement. Pretty much all the essential ingredients for a long lasting marriage. Alex’s life, although seeming full and rich, deep down it really wasn’t. But then not long into the story, something happened that changed everything for Alex. She met Cory, who was the game changer of the tale.

“I don’t want a beautiful wedding, Mom,” I said gently.
“I want a beautiful marriage.”

The story that continued was one that was filled with fire and passion. Everything that Alex had been missing in her life. It also contained a whole lot of soul searching. I loved seeing Cory and Alex together and rooted for their relationship to work. I willed for Alex to realise that Cory was her true soulmate, to appreciate that he was the only man that could make her happy. At times I became frustrated with her actions and felt sorry for Cory for the way that he was being treated, but it was all worthwhile in the end. The romance that played out was a love that gave me so much joy. I was so damn happy for the couple. The pair were made for one another and Cory was so gorgeous. Handsome, rugged with a heart as big as the ocean. He was the true hero of the story in every sense of the word. Saving Alex in so many different ways. He deserved a happy life full of love with Alex by his side.

"....what I feel for you has no end. I didn’t fall in love with you, Cory,
I’m still falling, deeper and deeper, every day."

This book was well worth the read and one that I recommended adding to your TBR. Cory and Alex’s tale was all about taking chances and realising what you need to make you happy. Life is way too short. Find the love that you deserve. Don’t settle for second best.

"Our fingers entwined in a bond of fragile flesh and bone, so easily torn apart.
Only we knew otherwise. He and I, we were unbreakable."

“Unbreakable” gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️  from me.
