Blog Tour: Pepper Winters "The Girl and her Ren (The Ribbon Duet # 2)."

The Hopeless Romantics Book blog are pleased to be a part of the Blog Tour for Pepper Winters "The Girl and her Ren (The Ribbon Duet # 2)."

Synopsis:

“What do you do when you write down all your secrets? No…that’s not enough. What do you do when you write down all your secrets and the one person who should never read them does?
I’ll tell you what you do.
You hope.”

REN
Ren didn’t know the meaning of love until he took Della for his own.
To begin with he hated her, but as the months bled into years, he learned the opposite of hate, dedicating his life to giving her everything.
Every sacrifice, every gift, he gave wholeheartedly.
But then love turned to lust and ruined everything.

DELLA
I was stupid to write my secrets down, but I’d been stupid before so it was nothing new.
I couldn’t blame him, hate him, fix him.
I tried to move on without him.
But no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to delete the secrets I’d written.
Until something happened.
Until he came back and read my stupid secrets.
And nothing was the same after that.

Review: Surj

Type... delete... type... delete... this is me trying to put into words my feelings on Pepper Winters "The Girl and her Ren." But whatever I write just doesn't seem to do this book justice. My words just feel like they are enough to convey the emotions I'm feeling right now as I've turned the last page on what has been such a devastingly beautiful story of life, love, hope and sacrifice. Della and Ren's journey is one that will be talked about in years to come. Why? Because it was different. It was unique and I love how this author was brave enough to take a risk that (for me) has absolutely paid off.

"I always knew you were trouble, Della Ribbon."
'And I always knew you were it for me, Ren Wild."

"The Girl and her Ren" begins exactly where "The boy and his Ribbon" ended but to be honest, as I did with my review for the first book, I'm not going to go into the plot line at all because that would spoil it for you as future readers of this duet and I don't want to be held responsible for ruining your enjoyment of this story. What I will say is, there are parts that may make you feel uncomfortable because, well the book does touch on taboo subject matters and honestly, I'll put my hands up and say, I did wonder whether I'd be able to overcome that. However this author (as always) weaved her magic and ensured that I was able to look beyond that and by the end of the book, it wasn't even a fleeting thought.

There was nothing civil about us. We were animals. Dirty, filthy animals
that had reached a dirty, filthy level and had nowhere else to go.

Also, there was a part in the first half of the book where I found myself just coasting along with Della and Ren, lazily following their journey and kinda wondering where Pepper Winters could possibly take this story. I got complacent. I admit it. I shouldn't have because now that I've finished the book I know why everything was the way it was. Everything has its place in a book. Everything is written is a particular way for a reason. I should have known this from this author. I should have known that she wouldn't just drag the story out for no reason. Nope, she was laying the foundations for what was to come and in hindsight I can see that now. Pay attention to everything you read peeps. Immerse yourselves into the lives of this two brave, courageous, wonderful characters and feel everything they go through and wait, just wait for the moment everything falls into place. Mark my words, it will happen and when it does .... wow just wow!!!!!!

"I hate you because I love you.
... I hate you because I won't survive."

Della and Ren's story was never going to be an easy one to read. This couple had been through so much as kids but then as adults too. This authors writing truly helped to bring their journey to life both with her writing and her ability to make me visualise the story that played out before my very eyes. What else is there to say other than read this duet. Be brave. Be bold. Take a chance. You won't regret it. "The Girl and her Ren" gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

"Wild forever and always."

Oh and on a side note, the day after I finished "The Girl and her Ren" I was driving home and this song came on the radio and OMG, it was meant for Ren and Della. In my head, this was their song for sure!!!!      Singer: Sara Ramirez  Song Title: The Story

Excerpt:

The fallen papers crunched beneath my boot as I shifted my weight, leaning into her, seeking an answer. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

She flinched, her eyes closing beneath an avalanche of pain.

This hurt.

Everything hurt.

“Della…please.” My calloused thumbs caressed her silky-soft skin, catching on her young perfection with my older imperfection.

Ten years separated us.

Ten years was an eternity when she was a babe and I was a boy, but now…it no longer held such power. I refused to let it because I didn’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t touch her the way I was touching her now.

She laughed quietly, full of torture and tragedy. “I did tell you. In a roundabout way.”

“You didn’t.”

“But I did.” She dared meet my eyes. “I never understood how I could touch you, hug you, kiss you, and you never knew. I didn’t know how I could hide my jealousy when you were with Cassie or later with your one-night stands. I lay awake at night analysing every sentence I said to you, amazed that you never heard what I’d been shouting for longer than I could remember.”
