Synopsis:

Dark desires…Deadly secrets…Devious deceptions…Nothing is exactly as it seems in INSIDIOUS, the new erotic thriller from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig.

When a powerful man is willing to risk everything for his own satisfaction, only one woman can beat him at his own game: his wife. Or so she thinks…

“Let’s start with you calling me Stewart. Formalities seem unnecessary.”

Stewart Harrington is rich, gorgeous, and one of the most powerful men in Miami. He always gets what he wants. Anything is available to him for the right price.

Even me.

Being the wife of a mogul comes with all the perks, but being Mrs. Stewart Harrington comes with a few special requirements. I’ve learned to keep a part of myself locked away as my husband watches me submit to his needs. But the more he demands of me, the more beguiled he becomes and that’s to my advantage. So I keep fulfilling his fantasies and following his rules because he doesn’t know that what he’s playing is really my game. And winning is everything, right?

Insidious is a stand-alone novel and the first Tales from the Dark Side title. Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only.

Review: Surj

I've learned my lessons well and played my role.
No longer willing to be a victim, Today I'm Insidious.

I've just finished reading Aleatha Romig's "Insidious" and seriously... WTF??? This was one of those books that had my insides coiled so tightly, my nerves on heightened alert and my emotions all over the place at what I was reading. One minute I was loving Victoria's story, the next, I was ready to throw my kindle at the wall I was so angry. This one really isn't for the faint hearted. It was a little sick, a lot twisted and very much depraved and there were so many moments I felt uncomfortable at what I was reading. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that I was getting all hot and flustered at situations that should have made me run to the hills. Yes there were definitely moments I questioned my sanity ... I mean was I really liking some of this stuff? Was it seriously turning me on? Was I right in the head? There were even moments I thought I should maybe book an appointment to see a shrink... lol !!! Yup, "Insidious" was a serious mind fuck of a read and I think it's going to take a good while to get over it.

The world you're entering is full of piranha's. One day you'll be able to swim
without me, but in the mean time, I'll gladly help you grow your teeth.

The story line was one that was so addictive that from the minute I turned the first page, I struggled to put this book down. I read well in to the night, desperate to see the moment the past and present connected. And with revelation after revelation, twist after twist, bombshell after bombshell, I just couldn't bring myself to part with Victoria's story, even for a short while. Even when I was so mad I had to walk away, I was back two seconds later because I needed answers. The problem was that with every answer I got, a whole host of new questions came up. This really was one hell of a multi layered, tangled web of lies, deceit and manipulation and really, I couldn't believe anything I was reading because nothing was as straight forward as it seemed. Even the characters had me all tied up with how I felt about them. One minute I hated them, the next I felt sorry for them... and that... well that whole pity thing just made me so angry at myself because they didn't deserve my pity or my sorrow. The problem was, no one was quite who I thought they were either. There were so many sides to each character and that had me constantly second guessing myself!!! Who should I like? Who should I love and who just I not touch with a ten foot barge pole? I honestly didn't know. The only one I did trust was Victoria but even she had her secrets that left my jaw dropping and my tongue tied.

In the depths of my haze, I knew that I was no more than a
million disassociated pieces vulnerable to the wind.

This review is vague and intentionally so but do know that this was a fantastic, mind blowing, gut twisting read. The writing was impeccable, drawing me in to this completely fucked up world and spitting me out the other end kicking and screaming. And that last line... OMG!!! It knocked me right on my ass and that is something that will stay with me for a long time, my mind working overtime trying to decipher what it meant. Don't worry though, this is a standalone and does have a HEA... of the mind fucking variety of course (but I wouldn't have it any other way).

If you're looking for something a little different to add to your reading repertoire? Something that is fast paced, addictive and thrilling? Something with an air of mystery and suspense and a touch of romance but a hell of a lot of the hot and very erotic stuff, then look no further. An amazing job well done to this author. I gave the first half of "Insidious" a deserving 5 hearts and second half 4 hearts because there were moments I felt I had system overload with all the revelations and I had to take a step back and just make sure I understood what was being said. So all in all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ freakin' fantastic hearts.

He didn't know the truth. All his research didn't tell him
that I wasn't a dream: I was a nightmare.

Excerpt:

I began to turn toward him, to stop the uneasy feelings his proximity spurred, when he stopped me: his tenor left no room for compromise.

“Don’t turn around.”

Involuntarily, I shuddered at his command.

“Put your hands on the window. Let me see those pretty little fingers.”

I’d never heard a man speak with such unquestioning authority. Obediently, I splayed my fingers on the cool glass before me, thankful I’d left my purse on the sofa. Caging me within his arms, his hands came to rest beside mine. The contrast in size was startling as his deep voice exhaled breathily onto my neck.

His lips brushed my neck. Instead of fighting, I tilted my head back against his chest to give him better access.

Sighing, he moaned. “Damn, girl, you’re sexier up close than I ever imagined. Do you know how hot that answer was?” His fingers that had just painfully twisted my hard nub caressed my same breast. Suddenly, his touch was warm and electric. “You may be frightened, but it’s not of me, it’s of what you’re feeling. Your nipples are telling me you’re feeling the same thing I am. They’re saying that you like this.” With both hands on my breasts, he’d lowered the top of my dress fully exposing me to the window. Thankfully, we were stories above the city. “Do you know how else I know you’re aroused?”

Forming words had become increasingly difficult. Therefore, I shook my head.

“I smell it, and darling, you smell fantastic. I bet you taste fantastic.”

“Because, after I share my beautiful fiancée with the world, I’m going to bring you back here and bury my face in that perfect pussy. The next time you come, it won’t float in a tub. No, darling, it will cover my tongue, my lips, and my chin. I’ll be dripping with your sweet juices.”

Oh, my God!

“And you will not be sighing contently, as you just did. No, you will be calling out—screaming out—my name. Because as of today, that’s your job, to come, to show me how amazingly sexy you are. Because this little orgasm was nothing like what will overtake you when we get home.”

I was shocked and appalled at his candor, and, at the same time, I was freak’n turned on and hot as hell.
