Synopsis:

Taylor Shaw had the perfect life—until she was sixteen. That was when everything changed. From that moment on, life went from bad to worse…to the worst.
After recovering from a brain tumor, months later, she suffers the tragic loss of her whole family.
Since that fateful day, she’s been coasting through life.

Now, the brain tumor has returned, and Taylor decides she’s had enough. She’s going to take her fate into her own hands.

No more hospitals. No more surgeries. No more anything.
She’s going to join her family.
It’s her decision.
What she longs for.
The ending she wants.

She just has a list of things to do before she goes.
First, go to England.
Second, kiss a stranger…

Only, Taylor didn’t expect Liam Hunter, the stranger—with his handsome face, his six-foot-three of gorgeousness, and his oh-so-hot English accent—to change things.
To change her.
To change the ending she wanted.

What is a girl, who is standing on the edge of nothing, to do when offered the chance of everything?

Review: Surj

Well now, wasn't Samantha Towle's "The Ending I want" quite the surprise. Having read the synopsis, I was expecting an angsty, heart breaking, pretty devastating read but what I got was the exact opposite. Taylor and Liam's story was light hearted, swoon worthy and pretty darn hot even if I do say so myself. Don't get me wrong though, there was still an undercurrent of seriousness which reared it's ugly head every now and again but for the most part, I found myself getting swept away in what turned out to be such a beautiful, heart felt romance. In fact there were moments I was so wrapped up in the growing connection between Taylor and Liam, that I almost forgot the secret Taylor was hiding... lol.

Recently, I found myself wishing for a lot of things. Things I have no right to wish for.
But the heart can be a selfish and foolish thing. And mine is certainly both.

It wasn't difficult to root for Taylor and Liam as a couple, especially since right from the outset, they had me grinning like a cheshire cat. Yes this was instant attraction and yes the couple's relationship did move forward at a pretty fast pace but when you connect with someone straight away, sometimes it's worth taking a risk to see where it goes, and boy did I enjoy seeing where this went. I loved the sweetness between Liam and Taylor. I loved the feistiness and I absolutely adored the banter between the pair and this was all cemented with a hell of a lot of the hot stuff (as is usually the case with young lust). These two could not keep their mitts off each other, with Taylor experiencing many a first in the bedroom department. Think spanking, Think blind fold. This alpha male dominant dirty talker. You get where I'm going with this?).

"You make me laugh."
"You say that like not many people do."
They don't. I'm a hard man to please."

Did I say alpha male dominant? Oh yes ladies. Liam Hunter was a man that liked to be in charge in and outside of the bedroom but in no way did I find his behaviour controlling or over the top. Nope, this was a man who constantly put Taylor first. I'd go so far as to say, right from the moment these two met, it was always about Taylor, her needs, wants and desires and this was a theme that continued throughout the book. But it appeared Liam too was harbouring secrets and I couldn't wait to see what they were.

It's like nothing I've ever felt before. He's like nothing I've ever known before.
And I don't want him to ever stop.

Now Taylor's character, as much as I liked her, I'm not sure I loved her. There was definitely a lot of misdirected guilt on her part which had lead to her making a huge, life altering decision which I guess had ultimately lead her into the arms of Mr hotshot millionaire/ billionaire which was great. But some of her thought processes, some of her rash decisions or choices didn't quite sit right with me. Liam was falling in love with her. It was plain as day to see and of course the feeling was mutual but she couldn't bring herself to open up to him. I was #TeamLiam all the way and was desperate to protect his feelings but knew in my heart of hearts that ultimately, she would destroy him. Did she? I couldn't possibly say.

I'm Taylor Shaw, the coward. The selfish bitch. The destroyer of lives.

The last 20% of "The Ending I want" was edge of your seat reading. I'd been lulled into such a false sense of security and then out of nowhere, I felt like I had been sucker punched. Yup, you know that angst, heart break and devastation I mentioned earlier, well I got it full force, leaving me reading like a crazy woman to see how it would end. Well I kinda guessed how it would end but I wanted the meat on the bones, that in-between bit that gave my heart rate a thorough work out which I definitely got thanks to Mrs Towle.

Another fab read by this author that will have you swooning, your heart melting and your thighs definitely clenching as you get wrapped up in this wonderful romance.

I rated "The Ending I want" ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Excerpt:

“Go to England. Kiss a stranger. Have lots of sex,” his deep voice rumbles out the words I wrote.

He glances at me over his shoulder, a shit-eating grin on his face.

I don’t even bother with trying to get the list back now. What’s the point? He’s already seen it.

Bastard.

I fall back into my seat, my face feeling like a blowtorch went at it. “You’re an asshole,” I mutter.

He turns to face me, my list in his hand but still held out of my reach. “Aw, don’t be like that, Taylor, from Boston. I was just curious to read it.”

I’m pretty sure he’s going for contrite, but he’s failing miserably.

I glare at him. I’m going for death-by-laser stare.

It doesn’t work because he gives me a panty-dropping smile. I’d like to say I’m unaffected, but I’m not; however, I don’t let him know that.

“Curious? I don’t think so. An effing thief? Yes.”

He laughs. “I’m sorry. But you don’t need to be embarrassed. It’s a good list.” He looks back to my list. “Have sex with a stranger,” he continues on reading. “Have sex with a stranger outdoors. You do know I can help you with all of these, right?” He lifts a brow at me.

I give him the middle finger.

He laughs again and looks back to the list. Then, he stops laughing and stares at me with what can only be described as complete horror. “You’ve never had oral sex?”

Fuck.

Why the hell did I put that on my list?

Stand out track: If You’re Not The One – Daniel Bedingfield

I was having real trouble finding Taylor and Liam’s song. There were a few occasions where I’d thought that I had found their song, but each time, something held me back from it. Then, I heard “If You’re Not The One” and I knew immediately that it was their song. It’s perfect in so many ways. For me, this song embodies the love that Taylor and Liam feel for one another.
