Synopsis:

"He owns you. Whatever he tells you to do you do".

One year. No future. A past that won't go away.

Lennox "Nox" Demetri broke his own rule by making a deal. It may not have been directly with the devil, but that doesn't mean Satan himself isn't watching. Was it fate that brought Charli into his life and his bed? What will happen when rules are broken and secrets are revealed?

"New rules...my rules."

Alex "Charli" Collins found pleasure with Nox like she'd never known. That was before she knew his last name. Now that Infidelity is involved and the rules have changed, what will result when real life and fantasy collide?

Is it really cheating if you're doing it to yourself?

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a sexy, new dominant hero who knows what he wants and a strong-willed heroine who has plans of her own. With classic Aleatha Romig twists, turns, deceptions, and devotions, the depth of this new, epic dark romance reaches new levels and will have readers swooning one minute and screaming the next.

Review: Surj

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of Aleatha Romig's "Cunning" and for those who have read the first book in the series, you'll completely get why I dropped everything, locked the doors, shut the world out and immediately got stuck right in. This was not a book to be kept waiting. It contained the next instalment to Nox and Alex's journey and with with way "Betrayal" had ended, I couldn't wait to get answers and see how it all played out. Well holy mother in heaven... what can I say? I want to desperately talk about this book! I want to scream and shout! I want to talk theories! I want to gossip about the characters and their shenanigans... but ... I CAN'T!!!! There is so little that I can say without spoiling it for every one of you who are eagerly waiting for this baby to land on your kindle but I'll give you what I can.

When I read "Betrayal," I'll admit, I did wonder how this author would manage to stretch out this story over five full length novels. As much as I loved the first book, I just couldn't see Nox and Alex's journey going that distance. However, now that I've read "Cunning" I'm wondering how in the hell Mrs Romig is going to manage to fit everything into so few books!!! "Betrayal" was just the tip of the iceberg.  It merely skimmed the surface of what this series is really all about. There is so much more to this story than I could have ever imagined ... so much more and as sub plots were uncovered, revelations made and a past brought to light through the eyes of the unlikeliest of characters, I knew that the lives of every single character I had encountered would be changed forever, if not in this book then at some point in the future.

In terms of the characters, again it's difficult to comment without giving too much away. What I will say is that I continued to love Alex's strength, determination and smart mouth (that just so happened to get her into a whole heap of trouble).

My reaction was primal. I was in survivor mode and did the only thing I could think to do.
Reaching for his right ankle and lifting his pant leg, I bit with all my might.

And as for Nox... I loved him. I hated him. I wanted to kiss him. I wanted to slap him. He really did leave me so conflicted at times. In terms of the other characters, well let's just so my eyes were opened to so many things whilst reading "Cunning" and my opinions on some of those I'd met previously were completely flipped on their heads. Who knew I  might actually feel some form of pity towards those I'd despited previously???

"Cunning" well and truly blew my mind. It was a cesspit of betrayal, double crossing, lies and deception with every character a pawn in a much bigger game... some just didn't know it yet. This was a story about wealth and power. It was about tradition, loyalty and the lengths people would go to for that good old "family name!!!" This was such a messed up, tangled web of a story that I took my time reading to endure I understood the plot and sub plots fully and I completely grasped the various links.

If Nox were a pill, I'd sell my soul for a lifetime prescription.

I can't wait for the next instalment in the "Infidelity Series." Yes this book does end on a cliffy. Not as big as the first book but a cliffy that has me itching at the bits for more answers. However, i have a feeling, Aleatha Romig has got a whole host of revelations, twists and turns up her sleeve for the remaining books that will no doubt leave me gobsmacked. After all, that is what she's renowned for. Was I "Aleatha'd" by "Cunning?" Abso- freakin'-lutely!!!

This book deserves nothing short of ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Excerpt:  Charli

The storm of raging tension that had surrounded us since our eyes met in the bar changed. The intensity was still off the charts, but this was something different. Whatever it was affected us both. Our breathing suddenly took effort as both of our chests rose and fell.

"Take off that dress."

Nox's command echoed throughout the glass stall. I considered arguing, but common sense stopped my rebuttal. I'd already pushed him far enough. Starting at the neckline, I slowly exposed myself, inch by inch. His gaze followed the soaked material. As I revealed my breasts, my nipples hardened, and he let out a low growl. Down the dress went, exposing my tummy and red lace panties.

Shaking his head, Nox ran his finger along the edge of my panties. With his large hands now at my hips, he asked, "Did you do anything I told you to do in my note?"

"No." My honesty left a trail of vulnerability and shame.

In one quick motion, Nox ripped the lace, and the shredded panties joined my dress on the shower floor. I blinked away the water as he tipped my face upward.

"No more disobeying. Do you understand?"

I nodded—not in acknowledgment of his words, but in response to the rush from once again being in his presence. Nox electrified me in a way I'd never known, and even in the absurdity of our current situation, he was doing it again. The way he scanned my nakedness as his Adam's apple bobbed tingled my skin.

He hadn't released my chin. "Say 'Yes, Mr. Demetri.'"

My chest hurt. "N-Nox."

His grip tightened.

"Yes, Mr. Demetri."
