You've met Jack from "A Reason To Breathe" now meet his cousin and lumberjack Max, Max Hunter or as Mia likes to call him Thor, God of Thunder.

You know what they say about lust at first sight.....It's a seven deadly sin but when you sin . . . you sin hard.

Max Hunter has a problem, well, two, actually. One he fished out of the river and the other...A killer.

Mia Roberts has a problem that stands six foot five and swings an axe like a God. On assignment to study the grizzlies of the Alaskan frontier, she stumbles across a body and then stumbles into the arms of a lumberjack she can't resist.

Throw in Max's mother, a handful of crazy friends and family and you have a recipe for adventure.

Rated B for Bossy, F for funny, T for Thor, God of Thunder, R for language, explicit sexual content and EDIBLE UNDIES. For mature audiences only. 18 and above.

Review: Surj Harvey

After reading a couple of really good but very dark, twisted books, I was after something a little more light hearted. Something that wouldn't have my nerves on edge and my stomach in knots and "C.P Smith's "A Reason to Kill" fit the bill perfectly. Yes I know what you're probably thinking... the title sounds the very opposite of what I was looking for but I can hand on heart promise you that Max and Mia's story had it all. It was definitely a romance novel that had my heart fluttering but add to the equation the crime element which gave it the whole "who done it" vibe, plus a massive dose of comedy that had my sides hurt from all the laughing I did and I was well and truly in book heaven.

"Why me? Why are you so hell bent on this?"

"Because my lungs locked up when I laid eyes on you, and I didn't breathe again
until I kissed you. You don't steal air from a drowning man.
If you leave, I won't be able to breathe,"  he whispered.

Mia Roberts and her team were sent to Trails End to research the grizzlies. What she wasn't expecting was conflict between her work and the towns folk, and to find herself slap bang in the middle of a murder investigation. To top it off, she'd also caught the eye of one very hot lumberjack by the name of Max Hunter!!!! Jeesh did that man make chopping down trees sexy as hell and flannel... Yup I was ready to buy the husband a whole wardrobe full of the stuff because the way Max carried those shirts off had my heart rate doing all sorts of crazy sh*t!!! Sorry, I detract from the job in hand!!! So yes, back to Mia. Her character was ace and as much as I would love to compare her detective skills to the likes of Nancy Drew or Velma from "Scooby Doo," unfortunately she was more like Shaggy from said cartoon.

Mia wasn't a damsel in distress.. not at all. She was head strong and confident. She was just always in the wrong place at the wrong time and unfortunately, had this habit of constantly putting her foot in it. But she was so cute and clumsy with it, it was hard not to find her just adorable. I was constantly left a huge grin on my face. From her t shirts to her laugh out loud hilarious underwear range, her uniqueness definitely caught the eye of the town's alpha. Where other men would run a mile, Thor God of Thunder (Max) didn't know whether he should throw Mia over his knee with all the pickles she got herself into or kiss her crazy in the hope of knocking some sense into her... I was happy with both to be honest. There was definitely something there and when Max wanted something, he made sure he got it. Boy oh boy was Mia in trouble.

While you're here, we're gonna ride this until we fall off battered and bruised
or hold on tight 'cause it's what we both want.

The sexual tension between these two was palpable and I was desperate for that first kiss, that first everything because I knew that when protective, controlling, domineering Max finally got his way, I would find myself blushing and all hot and flustered... yup that absolutely happened. Alpha sex is just the best and Max Hunter did not let me down!!!

The humour in "A reason to Kill" was also bought by the secondary characters. Max's mother was fantastic and her business with Martha and their antics to increase sales and to find the killer had me howling with laughter. These two might be older but trust me, they'd give the young ones a run for their money (much to the embarrassment of Max). Lol.

"Swear to God, I should put you in a home. Burnin' boats, huntin' killers, selling fuckin'
sex toys door to door to my men, and now you're draggin' my woman into your games?"

If you're looking for something a little different, something to make you laugh but also swoon at the same time, then I can't recommend this book enough. "A Reason to Kill" had the perfect balance of mystery and suspense (as I donned my detective cap and tried to figure out "who did it" ), plus humour by the bucket loads and of course the kind of romance that has your knees turning to jelly. Go click because I know you won't be disappointed with the journey Max, Mia and their friends take you on. Although part of a series, this can absolutely be read as a standalone.

I rated this book ❤️❤️❤️❤️
