Release Blitz & Review: CD Reiss's "Ruin (Songs of Corruption #2)"

The Hopeless Romantics Book Blog are pleased to be a part of the Release Blitz & Review for CD Reiss's "Ruin (Songs of Corruption #2)"

Synopsis:

Antonio is a killer.

He's beautiful, educated, a prodigy of a thief and as violent a motherfucker as ever came of the boat from Napoli.

Theresa knows it, but that doesn't stop her from getting emotionally and physically entangled with him, and this is how, maybe, she got it in her head that she can protect him.

But it's not her job to save him, and she's just not getting that. Every time she tries to protect him, she practically gets him killed, and the tighter he grips her, the more dangerous she becomes.

It's almost as if...well, he'd never admit this....but it's almost as if protecting her the way he does is the one thing he should stop. As if the only way he's ever going to find a moment's peace is to just embrace her as a partner, rather than a defenseless creature.

But he'd never do that. Not this violent motherfucker.

Warning: Do not read "Ruin" until you have read "Spin". It is a continuing series.

"Let me introduce you to my mob. This is my Neapolitan camorra. These are my rituals.
My sold souls. My men of honer. This is my Los Angeles." - CD Reiss

OMG!! CD Reiss has done it again. "Ruin" was amazing, an absolutely brilliant, edge of my seat read!!

In this second part to the series, Theresa and Antonio were attempting to make a life together, determined to overcome all the obstacles that were put in there way. Unfortunately, this was not going to be easy thing to do. With Antonio being a mafia Capo, their problems were a lot more dangerous than most. Capo and his Contessa were about to face the fight of their lives.

She was my second chance to be whole and clean,
and to have a life I'd failed at. I wasn't losing her.

I was so in love with Antonio and Teresa, Together they made such a hot and sexy couple and I adored watching their relationship develop. Their journey continued to be full of so many risks and heart stopping moments but despite the drama, the pair also managed to find the time for a whole lot of nookie. There was so much passion and fire between them that I was certain my kindle was going to burst into flames at any moment!!

"My job is to fuck you until the neighbors think I'm murdering you."

Throughout the story, Theresa increasingly showed how fearless she truly was. No matter what the dangers that were thrown her way she refused to give in. She remained adamant that her life was with Antonio and nothing was going to stand in her way.

"You're not understanding your place Contessa."
"My place? It's next to you."
"Its under me."

Theresa was determined that she would ride the storm with Antonio, to stand next to her Capo and to be his equal. She was a truly courageous woman, taking so many risks to be with the man she loved. I'm not ashamed to say that I  developed a bit of a girl crush for her.

"You have a devil of a mind, Contessa."
"What are you going to do about it, Capo."

Antonio just gets hotter and hotter as the series progresses. He really is the ultimate sexy mafia Capo, full of alpha male dominance and possessiveness. He also had a softer and romantic side to him that I loved. Especially when he spoke those beautiful Italian words. The translator on my kindle was a very useful tool to have whilst reading this book.

"I am yours, Contessa. Solo tua. Forever. Everything I do with you is forever."
"Ti amo, Theresa. Please don't ever doubt that."

Antonio had so much love for Theresa and naturally wanted to protect her from any harm but as the story continued this was getting more and more difficult. Theresa was not the usual kind of woman that mafia men become involved in. With her feisty nature, she made it harder and harder for Antonio to protect. In this part of the story, I got to see a more vulnerable side to Antonio. He was faced with a so many risks and for the first time in his life, he was scared. Theresa was becoming a liability but he refused to give her up.

I was twisted with that red-haired beauty I could never resist or deny.
I'd been on a death-march from the minute I saw her.

"Ruin" was action packed full of drama. I could feel the tension increasingly building with every new chapter. My stomach was churning and I was breaking out in a sweat. It got to the point that I became scared to read on, fearing what would happen next. The last eighty percent of the book I'm pretty sure my heart was in my mouth. I was left in a state of shock by the time I had reached the end. I think I need a re-read so I can make sense of everything that just happened.

She was going to be the death of me, and I was suicidal. I would kill for her, or I'd be
killed by her, but no matter what, someone was getting anointed in oil and put in a pine box.

Once again, this book was brilliantly written from dual POV's which I always love. CD Reiss writes so beautifully, I just love her style of writing. I have so far been completely wrapped up in this series and one hundred percent invested in the main characters. The "Songs of Corruption" is turning out to be a compelling series and I cannot wait for the next installment.

"You are my only, my one and only. And if I have to turn my life upside down,
or go to hell to be with you, so be it."

CD Reiss is my new favorite author. Her books are totally addictive. After reading "Spin" I decided to read The "Songs of Submission" Series which was equally as brilliant as this series. It follows the story of Jonathon Drazen, Theresa's brother and was set around the same time so some events overlap. If you have not read that series I would defiantly recommend doing so.

"Ruin" gets 5 Amazing Mafia hearts from me!

Author Bio:

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles.

Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
