Woods had his perfect life mapped out for him. Rise up the ranks of the family business. Marry the rich girl of his parents’ dreams. Pretend that wealth and privilege was all he’d ever wanted. Then a girl named Della breezed into town, a beautifully imperfect stranger who captured his heart and opened his eyes to a new kind of future. Woods is ready and willing to sacrifice everything for her when the sudden death of his father leaves him with his mother to care for and a business to manage.

Della is determined to be strong for Woods, even as she’s quietly falling to pieces. No matter how far from home she’s run, the ghosts of her past have never stopped haunting her. Struggling to hide her true feelings from Woods, Della fears she can’t be his rock without dragging him down into the darkness with her. But is she strong enough to let go of the last thing holding her together?

Review: Surj Harvey

Just like the first book in the series "Twisted Perfection," it took me a while to get around to reading the sequel "Simple Perfection."  Why I hear you ask? I mean how could I not want to delve straight back into Della and Woods story after that ending? Well, I was a little apprehensive to be honest. With the controlling father six feet under,  Woods would get the club and he'd already got the girl so what more could possibly happen to hold my attention? Well let me tell you, Abbi Glines wrote a fantastic second book that was full of drama, angst, heart break and romance and I just loved every second of it. I can only apologise to myself for not picking this book up earlier.

"Simple Perfection" started off where the first book finished with the couple returning to Rosemary Beach in the aftermath of Woods' fathers death. Yes Woods would get the club... I mean it was everything he'd ever dreamed of  but to be honest, there would be times in the not so distant future when that darned place would feel like a noose around his neck. It would be the love of Della that would help him through those difficult times.. or so he thought.

“You’re my all-in, Della. I’ll throw it all away for you.
I just want you. I’m all in, baby. This life with you, I’m planning on us.”

I honestly felt that this couple were solid after everything they'd been through in "Twisted Perfection" but they had so much going against them in this book. There was the psycho bitch from hell Angelina who made my blood boil and then Woods' mother who also turned out to be a little bat shit crazy!!! Add to that the pressures of the club and Della's anxiety, things were going to get a hell of a lot worse before they got better.

One thing that remained constant in this book was the unconditional love this couple shared but if anything, it was this love that would push them to breaking point. Woods loved Della something fierce but in his bid protect her and keep her safe, he was almost suffocating her and not allowing her to live and experience life.. the one thing she'd come to Rosemary Beach to do.

I had tried to keep her safe and not let her do things she wanted. I'd controlled her job
and what she what she did. She wanted to spread her wings and I'd clipped them.
So she'd found another way to fly.

And with Della, she love Woods so much but felt more of a burden to him than a support. With her anxiety and night terrors, she felt she was holding her man back. Crossed wires and miscommunications would push this couple to their limits and it definitely made for gripping reading. With twists and turns added to the equation, this was one book I just couldn't put down.

“What was I good for? He had to worry about me. I was weak and needy.
I was one more thing for him to stress over. I wasn’t any help at all.”

Woods continued to make me go weak at the knees with his whole alpha male possessiveness and that dirty mouth of his... OMG did he make me blush a couple of times!!! And I loved the character development I saw in Della. She absolutely took some steps back in terms of the progress she'd made with her condition but with the support of those who loved her, she would find the strength to fight back.

I loved catching up with the rest of the crew from Rosemary Beach and Blaire had me in stitches when she pulled that darned gun out again!!!!

"Listen bitch. If I wanted to I could pierce both your ears from here
and not mess your fucking hair up. Go ahead. Test me."

Parts of Grant's story was also discretely interwoven into this book and I can't wait to read it and Tripp.... well I didn't expect that revelation. Abbi Glines... hurry up and write more... I need those books.

This book was a perfect conclusion to Della and Wood's story but had such a tragic ending for the folks of Rosemary Beach. Their lives  have been forever changed and I for one cannot wait to see how the shift in dynamics affects this group of friends!!!

"Simple Perfection" had the perfect balance of happiness and sorrow, joy and pain and love and heart break and I have rated it 4.5 Hearts!!! Don't be a fool like me and wait... go read it!!! You won't regret it!!!
