Synopsis:

Meet Liv Michaels

It may have been seven years, but I’d know him anywhere. Sure, he’s grown, filled out in all the right places, but his captivating blue eyes and cocky grin are exactly the way I remember. Even though I’d much rather forget.

Liv Michaels is almost there. She’s smart, determined and weeks away from landing the job she’s dreamed about for years. Time healed old wounds, even her broken heart from the devastation of being crushed by her first love.

Meet Vince Stone

Women love a fighter, especially a good one. Lucky for me, I’m damn good. But there’s one woman that isn’t interested. Not again, anyway.

Vince ‘The Invincible’ Stone is every woman’s fantasy…strong, sexy, confident and completely in control. Growing up surrounded by chaos, he’s learned never to get too attached. Love will drag you down. He adores women, treats them well, puts their own needs before his own…for the night anyway. With the biggest fight of his life coming up, his focus should be on training.

When fate brings Vince & Liv back together again, there’s no denying the chemistry is still there. But can Vince erase the old scars their past left behind? Or will Liv hurt him instead?

Blog Tour Review: Surj Harvey

"Worth the Fight" was an OK read for me... it wasn't bad... it just didn't set my world on fire either. But it was the first book I'd ever read by Vi Keeland and I really wanted to give this author another go and so I did. Yup, when an opportunity to read and review "Worth the Chance" presented itself, how could I say no? I mean I got to read about another MMA fighter (yummy) and I was a little intrigued as to the direction Vi would take in terms of Vinny's story. So what was the verdict? Vi Keeland, I loved it... I loved every bit of it.

Olivia Michaels was a plain Jane kind of girl back in high school but she was focused and knew what she wanted out of life. For as long as she could remember, she'd wanted to be a journalist. Vinny Stonetti was a player and the polar opposite of Liv. With a crack addict for a mother and no support at home, the cards were already stacked against him when it came to his education. Lucky him, because he got tutored ... by Liv... and Liv... well Vinny ended up being her first major crush. Unfortunately he was the first ever boy to break her heart... in fact he was the only boy because after that, she built those walls so high, there was not a cats chance in hell would anyone ever get close again.

Fast forward seven years and Liv is an intern at The Daily Sun Times fighting for a permanent position with the paper.. her assignment? To interview a troubled MMA fighter who beats the crap out of people for a living (her words not mine!! lol). I loved the moment Liv and Vinny's paths crossed again... it was brilliant and to say Liv was a little gob smacked was an understatement. It kinda gave a warm fuzzy feeling because it was soooo obvious that nothing had changed when it came to her feelings for him.

But I couldn't help but think there was something missing from the picture that was being painted. Had something happened all those years ago.... on the surface it appeared that their relationship had only been friends but my gut was telling me something else.

I was young and inexperienced, but my heart told me he cared about me too.
Then it just ended. And I spent the next year of my life feeling stupid for thinking
he felt something for me too. To say I was devastated would be an understatement.

Either way, Liv was cautious when it came to the man Vinny had become and Vinny... well Vinny wanted to make up for lost time... seven years of lost time and he wasn't shy in telling her.

"Trust me about one thing, Liv . . . whatever is going on between us, it's
goingto happen. You can make it as difficult as you want, but we, Liv,
are going to happen. Neither one of us can stop it."

I loved Vinny's character. He was bold, confident and cocky (to the point of arrogant) and he made no apologies for it. He was definitely used to getting what he wanted and as much as he made decisions without consulting Liv, his justification made me think.. well I guess he has a point!!! Plus it was cute and kinda HOT!!!

"You seem to make a lot of decisions for me without consulting me first?"
"And you don't like the decisions?"
"I didn't say that... but..."
"But what Liv?"
"You're supposed to ask people what they want before you decide things for them."
"Seems like a waste of time when you already know what the other person wants."
"And what if you're wrong about what the other person wants?"
"I have no doubt you'll let me know if I'm wrong."

And Liv, well she was strong in her own right but when it came to Vinny, she literally went to mush. It was hilarious to read. Flashbacks to their teenage years clearly showed me the depth of her feelings for him even back then and the more I read about that time in her life, the more devastated I felt for her.

I have to say, despite Vinny's controlling, protective, possessive ways, I loved his attempts to woo Liv back. It was so out of character yet it clearly showed just how much he felt for her and the lengths he would go to, to ensure she stayed in his life.

The sex between these two was smokin'. Vinny liked to take control and yes he liked it a little rough but Liv surprised herself by liking it!!! Hell I liked it... trust me .. if ever there was a turn on!!!

"I want you in my bed. Underneath me, on top of me, bent over....
fuck, we're going to invent new ways for me to have you."

But if you think all you're going to get from this book is a second chance romance then think again because "Worth the Chance" was full of sub plots that sprung up unexpectedly throughout the book. The predicaments the characters found themselves in broke my heart and I wondered what decisions each of them would make and the impact their decisions would have not only on themselves and each other but also on them as a couple. With each twist and turn, I found myself further invested in Vinny and Liv's story, reading frantically to get to the end. I desperately wanted to see a HEA for these two but would that be possible with everything that was being thrown at them? What sacrifices would each have to make?

I loved catching up with Elle and Nico from the first book and seeing the direction their lives had taken them. Nico was as pussy whipped as ever and Elle was still hopelessly in love with her man. The relationship between Vinny and Nico was at times strained with Elle playing referee. It was obvious Nico cared a great deal for Vinny but somewhere along the line, trust had been broken and it wouldn't be easy getting it back.

"Worth the Chance" was a fab, fun read with just the right amount of angst to get me emotionally invested. Told from dual POV, I really got to understand each characters thought processes which helped strengthen my connection to each of them. There were also flashbacks to the past which again helped me to fully understand the nature of Liv and Vinny's relationship and the impact it had had on the people they had become in the present. These flashbacks in no way disrupted the flow of the book, if anything, it helped cement the story line.

"I'm rewriting the ending to our story Liv. I'm giving you your happily ever after. I promise."
Finally, more than seven years in the making, I have no doubt that he will.

I can't wait to get the final installment in this series when we get Jaxx's book.  I rated this book
4 Hearts!!!
