Synopsis:

Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.

I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.

My Review: Jo Rushton

"Three Broken Promises" is the third book in the "One Week girlfriend" Series but it can be read as a stand alone. I absolutely  fell in love with Drew and Fable's story in the first two books so I was excited to read this third book.

This story drove  me slightly mad, it was so bloody frustrating. I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall and  I had to give myself time out on several occasions. The story of Jen and Colin is not an easy one to read. The majority of the story is a will they / won't they saga that drove me nuts!! I began to get very impatient. Monica kept me waiting for what seemed like forever before Jen and Colin finally did something about their feelings for each other. I wanted to give them each a head smack so many times!! Colin and Jen just couldn't admit how they truly feel about each other. They seriously needed help with their communication skills!!!

I have to be honest and tell her how I feel. I need her. Desperately. Losing her would be
like losing part of myself...I'm pretty sure I'm in love with her. But I'm the last guy she
should be with. I have this way of ruining those I'm closest to. No way could I do that to her.
No way can I let her leave me, either.

Colin was Jen's boss at the restaurant where she worked as well as being the childhood friend of her older Brother. And it's for this reason that Colin held back in admitting his feelings for her.

"Only one woman is off limits...The sweet little girl I knew when we were kids.
The pretty teenager who I tried to my best not to look at for fear she'd know I was lusting
after her. The woman I deny myself from ever having. We're friends, and that's all it can be. "

I really liked  Colin but he just appeared  to make everything worse between himself and Jen. I felt he needed to grow a pair and be a man, to declare his true feelings and stop being such a wimp!! Even Fable became frustrated with him!!!

"If you don't want Jen to leave, then you need to find those balls you're so afraid
I'm going to demolish, man up, and tell her how you feel."

I love Jen's character, she was a sweet girl who didn't appear to have had an easy life. She'd made some wrong decisions in her past that were coming back to haunt her and as such needed to get away before Colin found out. Jen just didn't think she stood a chance with him.

"I'm not sure you can handle my secrets. But despite them, I want you, Colin.
All of  your faults and your strengths, the good and the bad. It doesn't matter. I want it all."

When these two were together, the temperature rose fast. The chemistry that was building for so long between them resulted in some seriously hot scenes. The passion between them was intense. I loved it!!

"Open your eyes. Look at me. I want you to know who's about to make you come."

Even though "Three Broken Promises" drove me crazy I did enjoy it. However  I was a little disappointed with the end of the book. It felt like it ended just as things were getting good between Jen and Colin. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to them. There are two more book's on the way though so hopefully we will get to read more about them in those.  Monica is  releasing a novella "Drew and Fable Forever" in January and I can't wait to read that. I loved catching up with Drew and Fable in this book and can't wait to find out what there future holds for them. The forth book "Four
Years Later" which is Owen's story is due out in February.

"Three Broken Promises" gets 4 crazy hearts from me.
