Synopsis:

Everything always seems to fall into place for twenty-four year-old Aubrey Jenson, except for when it comes to her luck with men. Bad boys always draw her in and crush her heart, and Black Falcon’s lead guitarist, Riff, is no exception. After sharing a few wild nights together, she leaves him behind, knowing a guy like Riff isn’t the relationship type, merely just a play thing.

When she returns to New York, she tries to get the passion she felt in Riff’s arms out of her head by dating Isaac, a successful representative at Center Stage Marketing. Just when she thinks she’s forgotten Riff, she’s forced to see him again when her best friend, Lanie, ropes her into being a bridesmaid for her upcoming wedding to Black Falcon front man, Noel.

Sparks fly instantly between Aubrey and Riff when they’re forced to reunite, and suddenly she finds herself caught between the man that’s good for her and the one who completely rocks her in every way.

Review: Surj

I just love a bad boy rock star with a fractured soul and that's exactly what I got with Riff (AKA Zachary Benjamin Oliver) in "Rock My Bed." I first met him in "Rock the Heart" where he really did live up to that whole rock star image of "bagging" as many women as was humanly possible and playing that all important playboy role.  Yup he was the love them and leave them type of guy and that's why we just fell in love with him!!! We all want what we can't have ...  right? and he wasn't about to give his heart to anyone:

I don't do love. Period. Not even with my own family. I don't love them and and
they don't love me. This chick has another thing coming if she thinks
I'm some sad, sappy asshole. I'm not the guy that can be tamed. Period.

Until she walked into his life that is... and then it was game over. Aubrey and Riff's relationship started off as a one night stand they had spent weeks planning. They knew it was going to happen and they knew it would be explosive but Aubrey had to set some rules:

I only have three simple rules:

1. I determine the time and place
2. You have to make me want you
3. No falling in love

The first two were easy but who would have thought the last one would be the one they'd both struggle with!!!

I loved the relationship between Riff and Aubrey. From the word go they had this connection and I knew it was going to end up being so much more than just sex whether they liked it or not. Aubrey's history with men hadn't been great. With a pattern of going for bad boys, she always got her heart broken. For her, Riff was the last fling before she settled down. And for Riff... well this was a kitten that played hard to get and he just loved a challenge. He just couldn't get her out of his head:

I'm twenty-six fucking years old. I should be having the time of my life,
but I can't shake the feeling that there's something missing.
I blame the red headed vixen that's gotten her hooks into my head.

One night was never going to be enough and their relationship progressed quite quickly. Yes it was physical (yup steamy, sexy and very very hot!!!) but there was another side to it. Riff wanted something more. He didn't come out and say it directly but it was all the little things... like he wanted her to call him Zach, not Riff. He wanted what they had to be real. He wanted her to like him unconditionally:

I only crave realness and that's something only one woman in the entire world has ever given me. There's no way I would break that little bit of trust we've built on a random fling.

As I worked my way through "Rock my Bed," I was getting little hints that Riff had a dark past. His family, the tattoo and he kept putting himself down.. saying he wasn't a good person and that he wasn't good enough for her... all alluding to something bad but what? Why was he so broken? Everything seemed to be going really well. They were getting on, he had turned into a one woman man, life was good. But then I hit 80% and I couldn't believe it:

When  I offered him my heart, he crushed it in the palm of his hand like it
meant nothing to him. I refuse to let him do it to me again.

I was screaming at him!!!! Pleading with him but it kept coming back to the guilt and his lack of self worth. Why couldn't he see what everyone else saw... a kind, caring and very protective man who had a heart of gold... yes you heard me right:

I loved that "Rock my Bed" started at about the same time as "Rock the heart." Yes there was some over lap with the story line but I got to see it from a different perspective and there were some little gems thrown in the shake it up a bit. Who'd have thought Aubrey would keep such a big secret from her best friend in regards to Lane's job on the Black Falcon project! Yes extra snippets of information  really did add to the plot. It was also great to see the conclusion to Noel and Lane's story too. They finally tied the knot!!! Yay (another couple I'd been rooting for in Rock the Heart).

This book was told from both Riff and Aubrey's POV which got me a front row seat into their mind sets. I could see how Riff processed things and why he behaved the way he did and I could see Aubrey's motives for her actions but there were times I could have just banged their heads together! They belonged together ... he had finally found his Real:

When I found you, I found my heart, Kitten. You're the one putting me back together.
You make me feel alive. You're helping me find my soul again, which is something
I thought had died years ago. It's because of you I want to be a better man.

(Someone pass me the tissues!!!) lol.

This was a brilliant read and a great follow on in the "Black Falcon" Series and I've given it
5 Hearts!!! I loved it and so will you.
