Synopsis:

** Prologue **

We met in a nightmare.

The in-between world where time had no power over rhyme, reason, or connection. We met. We stared. We knew.

There was no distortion from the outside world. No right or wrong. No confusion or battles from hearts and minds.

Just us. In our silent dream-world.

That nightmare became our home. Planting ghosts, raising fantasies. Entwined together in our happily skewed reality.

We fell in love. We fell hard.

In those fleeting seconds of our nightmare, we lived an eternity.

But then we woke up.

And it was over.

"Pure in thoughts and vengeance. corrupt in all things that matter. "

I've never willed my gut instinct to be right on so many occasions in one book EVER ... FACT!!! Pepper Winters "Ruin & Rule" was bloody fantastic and had me questioning and second guessing right until the very last page. Each time I got answers to questions that had been niggling me, a million more would crop up, leaving me scouring the pages for clues and hints as to the direction this story line would take. Yes there were some obvious clues (or so I believed) but then the author would throw in a couple of  curve balls, leaving me doubting everything I thought I'd worked out, throwing my mind into the mother of all tail spins. This book gave my brain cells a thorough workout but in the best possible way.

I played with my demise. I ran straight toward my downfall.

"Ruin & rule" was really well written and that's down to this authors way with words. It's pure genius, like poetry and as I read, her words quite literally threw me into the underbelly of the world of the Pure Corruption MC. I saw everything, heard every sound and most importantly felt everything... every emotion the characters went through.. the pain, the anguish, the fear. The despair, the fury and the hurt. But every now and again, I felt hope, the butterflies fluttering at the possibilities. My heart raced, it soared, it bottomed out, my nerves on edge as I frantically read to see what the outcome of various situations would be. Nothing was straight forward, nothing was cut and dry... a complex web of lies and deceit woven through the pages just waiting to be uncovered.

Answers should have made everything easier. Then why did I have the feeling
the biggest answer of all would be the one to ruin me?

Without giving too much away, the characters were definitely complex. Each of them had a story to tell but neither was straight forward. Pasts were forgotten and secrets were buried deep, making connections even more difficult to make. What were the demons that lurked in the shadows? What were these characters hiding? If they were they hiding anything at all? what I did know was that I had to get to the bottom of their story and if that meant pulling an all nighter, then so be it... yup, I pulled an all nighted, my curiosity getting the better of me!!! lol.

Pepper Winters has covered some controversial subject matters in "Ruin & Rule" and I have a feeling certain elements of the story line will definitely be hot topics for discussion. Did it bother me? Not really. It's nothing I haven't read before and I think Pepper handled those particular aspects really well. You might need your big girl panties though but my advice.... continue to read because there's so much more to this story than first meets the eye.

It felt like a chess game where everyone knew the rules but me.
I was a pawn. Being slid left and right until someone smacked me
from the checkerboard and killed me off in a brutal checkmate.

"Ruin & Rule" was another job well done for Pepper winters. The mystery, suspense, rawness and sheer brutality of this story line pulled me in hook, line and sinker and although not a dark read, this author did what she does best... f**ked with my mind!!! I cannot wait to get the next instalment in this series, and I have a feeling once you've read this book, you'll be begging this author to hurry up and write.

Another ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.
