Synopsis:

First in the new Silver Valley series from the New York Timesbestselling author of the Reapers Motorcycle Club Novels.

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward—full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That’s when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he’d violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She’s been terrified of him ever since, but she’s even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from... But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She’s living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can't ignore. She has to go back, and there’s only one man she can trust to go with her—the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it’ll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants...

Review: Surj

Joanna Wylde's "Reaper's MC" is one of my all time favourite series and I was so excited to learn that this lovely lady would be doing a spin off series entitled "Silver Valley." And the icing on the cake? The first book would be biker ... woo hoo!!!! What can I say? I just love those dirty ass bad boys. Well to say the author delivered her A game with "Silver Bastard" is an understatement because I absolutely loved it. Puck and Becca's story had all those magical ingredients I love in an MC novel plus all those brilliant elements only a Joanna Wylde book can deliver. I've said it once and I'll say it again... this author's books are like an action packed, drama filled episode of Sons of Anarchy meets Bridget Jones Diary.... no word of a lie. She touches on some very serious subject matters (which are handled with the due care and attention they deserve), yet she manages to mix it up with some brilliant laugh out loud humour that helps to lighten the load. These two components shouldn't work together but in a Joanna Wylde book, they fit seamlessly.

“That boy is crazy about you- it’s cute. Like a pit bull crushing on a kitten.”

So what was "Silver Bastard" about? Well, Becca Jones was brought up surrounded by bikers. Her mother was a groupie and although there were fond memories from earlier years, her teenage years were a living hell. The night she met Puck was both the best and worst night of her life. Unfortunately he contributed to both.... Gah!!! Five years on and the feelings both characters felt that night were still as strong as ever. The attraction growing by the day. However, as a result of her past, Becca had a fear of bikers (and rightfully so). They brought back memories of a terrible time in her life and what they represented was something she wanted nothing to do with. Unfortunately Puck was biker through and through and he had no intention of hanging up his cut... and definitely not for a woman... even if said woman had managed to crawl under his skin and into his heart... of course he would never admit that... hell no!!! And so the drama began... and trust me, there was a lot of it.

".. I won't pretend I'm something I'm not. I want a woman, I take her. I keep her until
we're finished and I call the shots while we're together. No games. This is your last out."

Puck and Becca were two characters I absolutely adored... faults and all it was difficult not to like them, even if they did have a habit of f**king things up every now and again. OK so maybe this couple's relationship was more akin to watching a slow motion car crash but give me a break ladies because their journey to finding their HEA really did make for a very entertaining read. Puck Redhouse was one scary mother trucker. Looks wise, he had a scar down his face and a nose that had been broken at least four times. Doesn't sound so appealing on paper does it? Add to that a prison sentence and a continued involvement in illegal activity, his ability to intimidate without even trying, his bossiness, the fact that he lived and breathed biker and the fact that he spoke it too and let's just say, I doubt he'd make boyfriend of the year. So why oh why did I find myself swooning every time he  opened his mouth and why oh why did my heart flutter at the very mention of his name? Well because there was more to this man that what he showed the world. Underneath that biker bravado was a man that actually gave a sh*t. A man that was strong and caring and would do whatever he needed to, to protect those he loved. This was a man with a conscience, a man that felt guilt for wrong doings... a man that was just soooo.... rough and ready and good with his hands and good with other parts of his anatomy and had a sexy voice and .... god I'm getting carried away but you get where I'm coming from .. right? Lol.

In a weird way, I owed him everything... the man still scared me, turned me on,
you name it, because if there was one constant derailing my quest for happy normalcy,
it was Puck Rehouse and his stupid, sexy voice. The man was my own personal
North Atlantic iceberg, lurking in the waters, just waiting to shred me wide open.
Fucking biker. I'd had enough bikers to last me a lifetime- I didn't need him in my life.

And Becca... I got her, I really did. She was just so relatable. I loved her strength and fiery personality and I loved that she was no doormat despite being surrounded by bikers. She knew the life she wanted and she knew exactly what she didn't want and I admired her for sticking to her guns  and being vocal when she disagreed or when she felt like she was being bulldozed into a corner. However there was another side to Becca's character and my heart really did go out to her every time her past reared it's ugly head because it was almost like she was taking steps backward in the progress she had made since moving to Silver valley. Thank god for best friends that all I can say because both Danielle and Blake really fought Becca's corner for her, supporting her and guiding her when the proverbial hit the fan.

"Let's clear things up," he said, his tone catching me off guard.
"This isn't a onetime thing. I'm claiming you, Becca. Already talked to the club about it -
they know you're mine. That's how it works in my world. End of story."

Both puck and Becca were really strong minded people which was great in some respects but with that strength, often came a stubbornness and lack of willingness to compromise. If anything, it brought a fire to whatever it was that was going on between them and sometimes, just sometimes it lead to both characters saying things in the heat of the moment... spiteful things that would hurt the other. There was absolutely no filter during these verbal sparring sessions and there were a few times I felt myself cringe at what they came out with... yup be prepared for some very low blows on both sides. However, their makeup sex/ angry sex was definitely worth the toe curling, thigh clenching read!!!

I loved catching up with the boys from the Reaper's MC who all played pivotal roles in how some of Becca and Puck's story unravelled. I even got to catch up with some of the old ladies. On top of that, I was introduced to a whole host of new characters. Regina and Earl who stole my heart and of course Danielle and Blake who had me in stitches. There are so many others too, some of which I'm really hoping get their own book, my gut telling me they have a really interesting story to tell.

Joanna Wylde really did spoil us with the ending of the book because she gave us two epilogues... yes two!!! The first was just the cutest thing ever that had me going all gaga over how Puck and Becca's life turned out and the second was an introduction to the next book... which I cannot wait to get my mitts on.

"He'd said he owned me, and he did. My body recognized it's master even if I didn’t."

Another job well done Mrs Wylde. You just keep these "Silver Valley" books coming because they really are a joy to read and I'm already 100% invested in where this series is going. I rated "Silver Bastard" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Excerpt:

Ignoring him, I settled back on my stool and surveyed the room. We sat in Becca’s section, and what I saw wasn’t making me happy. I knew she was a good waitress, but she’d just started here and it showed. Not only had she fucked up several orders, she didn’t quite seem to get the rhythm of the bar. That wasn’t my problem, though.

My problem was that despite these fuckups, nobody seemed to mind. I had a nasty suspicion this was due to her perky tits, friendly smile, and tight little ass that seriously just needed a bite taken right out of it.

She really, really needed to get a new job—every man in the place wanted her. Including me. Especially me. I hated them. All of them. I shifted uncomfortably, because just like every time I shared a room with her, my pants had gotten tight.

Torture. Becca was just so fucking fine on every level, and not just her looks. There was something about the way she carried herself . . . I couldn’t put my finger on it. Like she was dancing through life to some song nobody else could hear. Never met another woman like her—she wasn’t just sexy, she was a survivor and I admired that.

She’d grown up so much since the first time I’d met her. Bigger boobs, a nice fullness to her ass that was nowhere close to fat but would be perfect to hold tight while I fucked her. Her lips had plumped, too, and over the years she’d gained a sparkle in her eyes that turned her from pretty to 100 percent spectacular.

Not to mention how she’d tasted.

Nearly blew in my pants when I’d taken that mouth. Just the memory got me hard. Make that harder. Fucking basket case.

When I’d pulled up to find her sitting outside with Collins, a thousand murder scenarios ran through my mind. And yeah, I know I covered that already, but if anything ever deserved empha- sis, this was it. Collins needed to die. I didn’t care how nice he was. After that I’d throw Becca on the back of my bike and make a run for the hills . . .

Okay, so there were a few problems with the plan, the top one being she hated me. Or she should—I’d certainly given her cause. Boonie nudged me.

“Did I mention you’re pathetic? You want her, take her. Other- wise let it go because you’re an embarrassment to all men in general and to the Silver Bastards in particular.”
