Synopsis:

The emotional and unforgettable new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that she and her mother weren't his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him.

Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and explosive affair.

Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for. And when they're on the precipice of danger, he finds he’ll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again…

Review: Kirsty

Ahhhhh! What a FANTASTIC book! I am on such a high after finishing this. I've loved every single word.

Where the heck do I start?

Three times I've started this review and deleted it because none of my words will do it justice. The story was just brilliant and I was hooked right from start to finish. Alexa and Caine are two totally complex characters, who really shouldn't work, but work is exactly what they do. With many struggles along the way.

“I need a PA who will fulfill all my wishes and demands immediately…
I’m a hard man to please. And I’m also a very busy man.
You’ll do what I want when I want and I won’t always be nice about it.”

Becoming Caine's PA was never in Alexa's lifeplan, but how could she deny him? Alexa feels like she owes Caine, thanks to their past, could this be her way of making it up to him. Of making the awful past they share, finally okay in some way? Of course it was never going to be that simple. Not when you throw in the crazy chemistry that flies between the two of them, or the fact that the past that they share, has caused so much heartache, and continues to do so every single day. How were they ever going to work? Of course I wasn't sure, but I was rooting for the two of them the whole way. At times I wanted to punch Caine for being such a heartless pain in the A, but other times I wanted to just pull him and hug the hell out of him because that's all he needed in his life. A little bit of love. And Alexa was the perfect person to give that to him. In the words of Caine, she most definitely was a smart-ass, but I loved that about her. She challenged Caine, she stood up to him, she practically threw herself in to his life like a bulldozer. It was hysterical and adorable all at the same time.

Having an affair with Caine Carraway was not only deliciously
physically exhausting, but not so deliciously emotionally exhausting too.

I admit to absolutely laughing my head off at parts of this story. I can't even tell you how freaking hilarious the banter between Caine and Alexa was. Like I said, she challenged him in so many ways, they always had an answer for each other and it was just so fun and refreshing to read. Particularly before they admitted to their feelings. Watching Caine deny himself, and Alexa already working out his feelings was just so funny. There were constant sparks and I loved to read it.

What Caine needs is a woman who is not easily intimidated,
persistent, and pretty much okay with bulldozing her way into this life.

I don't know what else to say, apart from the fact that if you get the chance, you 100% need to pick it up and I'd say you will not regret it. I am a fan of the On Dublin Streetseries and whilst that is great in it's own right, I can't help thinking this is even better. The story was just so different from what Samantha Young has previously written and I for one just loved it.

"I am not your mother. I'm not looking for something else from life.
I'm not looking for more. I'm not looking for a great adventure.
I'm not looking, because I found it. You are my more. You are my great adventure."

I rated "Hero" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
