Review-Jo Rushton

I absolutely loved this story. Kirsty has taken me on a crazy, emotional roller-coaster ride with this one and I freaking loved every bit of the journey. Move over all of my current book boyfriends because I've found a new one!! Carson Matthews was a hot, gorgeous, sexy MotoGP racing driver. I was in love!! lol. Carson met Emma whilst visiting the lap dancing club that she worked at. He had eyes only for Emma and every weekend, he was there just for her. The pair embarked on a unique relationship. As the story progressed it was clear that both wanted more and it seemed like it was time to take the relationship away from the club.

Only one man got behind my defences. Only one man was allowed to touch me.
Only one man was allowed to make me feel like I was in heaven. Carson Matthews.

Emma was a sweet girl who I loved. She wasn't the usual type of girl I would associate with a lap dancing club but I soon discovered the reasons behind her career choice. Emma's life was a difficult one. Everyday was a struggle for her and my heart went out to her. Despite her problems, Emma was attempting to make the best of a bad situation. She didn't complain and was determined to make a better life for herself. I truly admired her for this and I was so happy that she had found some happiness with Carson.

He was always like this: tender, adoring, gentle. It didn't feel like sex,
it felt like he was making love to me. It had always felt the same,
like we were connected: one person, one soul, one entity.

Emma and Carson were hot together. They had so much chemistry between them and I adored watching their relationship develop. I was certain that this was going to be like a modern day Cinderella story. Emma would go from rags to riches with Carson by her side. I couldn't help but get excited for the pair. I loved how Carson woo'ed Emma, the things that he did made me squeal like a little girl. I was giddy with joy for this couple and I was convinced that a happy ending was in sight.

When Carson kissed me, I felt like I could do anything and be anyone.

Even though Emma and Carson made the perfect couple, there was quite a few problems that emerged as the story continued and of course, there was Emma's secret. I did not expect that one at all! So maybe my joy was a little premature. Suddenly Emma and Carson's relationship was not so perfect. My heart was breaking with every page that I read. I needed chocolate to help me through the heart ache. Maybe, there wasn't going to be a fairytale ending after all.

Carson completely surprised me during this part of the story. He exposed a new side to him that I really did not like. I was utterly confused by his actions and I wondered if what I was seeing was the real Carson. Poor Emma, she was in shock over what was happening to her. I didn't blame her for the way she reacted. Unfortunately I became a little frustrated with how the couple were handling things. It was crushing me to see them behave as they did. Surely they could work things out. I was rooting for them every step of the way.

This was all I was to him. A body, nothing more. Something for him to get his kicks with,
just like he did with hundreds of other girls.

"Poles Apart" was a fantastic read. I was hooked from the very first page and devoured it in one afternoon. I enjoyed everything about it, even the heartbreak and the stomach churning moments. There was a scene where I wanted to cover my eyes. I was so worried about what would happen next. Once you read it, you will know which part I mean. My heart was in my mouth!

So would I recommend this book? What do you think? A big fat yes!!! This one gets 5 Amazing Hearts from me!

Author Bio:

Kirsty Moseley has always been a passionate reader since she was a little girl, devouring books overnight, barely sleeping and paying for it at school the next day. Writing has come similarly to her and once she discovered Wattpad, she finally plucked up the courage to post one of her stories. Seven million reads later, she self-published her debut novel THE BOY WHO SNEAKS IN MY BEDROOM WINDOW, which later became one of 10 Finalists for the 2012 Goodreads' Choice Awards, Best YA Fiction. Shocked and overwhelmed by the response, she published her second novel ALWAYS YOU a few months later.

If she had to sum herself up in one word, it would probably be 'daydreamer' - but unlike most of her school teachers, she doesn't necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, she read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams....

She lives in Norfolk, England with her husband and son.
