Review: Lisa J. Hobman's "Bridge of Hope".

4 Hearts Review: Lisa J. Hobman's "Bridge of Hope".

Love is like a snowflake; beautiful but fleeting in its presence…

I’ve been in love. But I’ve also been lied to, betrayed by those closest to me and I’ve suffered loss. Sadly it’s those last three things that stick with me the most. The only real constants in my life are music, Angus my dog and Rhiannon; my guitar.

But things changed when she walked into my place of work. All blue eyes, curves and a warmth that could melt even my hardened heart. I was taken over by feelings that I didn’t expect so soon. Guilt plagued me and I took my anger out on her.

On Mallory.

But I fell fast and hard and there was nothing I could do to stop it. When she too became the victim of heartbreak I was the only one who understood her pain but I was the last person she wanted help from.

Would I ever convince her that we could be friends? And would I ever accept that she couldn’t love me back?

Please do not read this review if you have not read "Bridge Over The Atlantic".

"Bridge Over The Atlantic" was such a beautiful, emotional read and definitely one that captured my heart. Now in "Bridge of Hope", not only did I get the chance to re-visit the story but it also gave me a chance to learn about Greg's life before Mallory came along.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I loved having the opportunity to really get to know Greg. To be honest, when I first met him, I wasn't overly keen, my first impressions not that great. Greg came across as short tempered, bad mannered and extremely grumpy! As "Bridge Over The Atlantic" progressed I did begin to warm to him, however because I had already fallen for Sam at the beginning of the story, I found it difficult to take to Greg. My heart belonged to Sam and I was not ready to move on! LOL.

Now that my heart has recovered, it was time for me to give Greg a fair chance. In this story, I felt that I truly got to know the real him and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked him. I discovered that behind that grumpy exterior was a deeply emotional, sensitive and vulnerable man. Who would have thought it! Not me, that's for sure!

We were a pair of broken souls with pieces missing and neither of us truly
knew if the holes inside us would ever heal.

Finally I felt there was a place in my heart for Greg. I loved this softer side to him and I loved how crazy he was about Mallory. It was definitely love at first sight for him.

In that moment, I knew that I would do anything to help her find happiness.
Even if it wasn't with me.

Even though I knew that eventually Greg would get his girl, I still found myself feeling sorry for him as he spent many weeks pining for her. Poor guy!

She had come along and saved me. I wanted to save her too.

I felt that this book was a perfect companion novel and I wish that I had re-read "Bridge Over The Atlantic" again before reading this one. If you have the time, I would definitely recommend doing this.

I am so glad that Lisa decided to give Greg his own book allowing me to see him in a totally different light. The author has truly written a brilliant addition to the first book. This is a must read for all fans of "Bridge Over The Atlantic" You will not be disappointed!

In my heart I held onto the wish that someday the bridge
could become more than a sad memory. More than somewhere to cry.
I wanted, more than anything, for it to become her bridge of hope.

"Bridge of Hope" gets 4 Hearts from me!
