Synopsis:

Brooke Willis had everything she ever wanted: a happy marriage, volunteer placement at the art gallery, and the promise of starting a family with the man of her dreams.

Saxon Reed had everything he ever thought he needed: a successful career, nice cars, expensive apartment, and more money than he knew what to do with.

After losing her husband Brooke insists on taking over his company to keep his dreams alive. Struggling in an industry she knows nothing about, Brooke turns to Saxon, her husband’s best friend and business partner, for guidance and support. Their mutual grief, and Saxon’s need to look after his best friend’s wife, creates a connection beyond just business.

Can Brooke take over the company and find a new life without saying goodbye to the past? Can Saxon protect and care for Brooke without scaring her away?

What happens when your heart doesn’t listen to your head? When lines are crossed and boundaries are pushed?

“Life goes on, whether you choose to move forward and take a chance in the unknown or stay behind, locked in the past, thinking of what could've been. I don’t want to live in the past anymore. I’m so lonely; there’s nothing for me here.”

Review- Jo Rushton

If you love second chance romance, then "Wherever You Will Go" could be just what you're looking for!

Brooke was living the perfect life, married to her college sweetheart, crazy in love and planning a family. Everything was great until disaster struck leaving her devastated and alone, her once perfect life all but a memory.

How an earth would Brooke get over such a tragic loss? Saxon was Brooke's deceased husbands best friend and business partner and as such, was also trying to come to terms with his own loss. Two people so completely heart broken with one connection, it was inevitable that they would start to rely on each other for support.

Looking into his eyes, I know why I've broken down. Why I've let him see me at my
most vulnerable. Saxon is the only one who truly understands....
the only other person here who has lost their other half....their best friend...their soul mate.

The more time the couple spent together, the stronger their feeling became and it soon became clear that Saxon wanted more. The question was, could Brooke admit her own feelings for this man without the burden of guilt? And if not, could the couple ever be anything more than friends?

I care for her. I've always cared for her, and will always care for her, but do I care for her more
than I'm willing to admit? Is it more than the way a person should care for their best friends wife?

I really liked Brooke and could totally understand her feelings and her apprehension at starting a new relationship again. Brooke thought that falling in love with someone else meant betraying her deceased husband and she also thought about other people's opinions before thinking of herself and how Saxon felt. She had a lot of soul searching to do that's for sure. I wanted Brooke to grab the chance of  love she'd been given with both hands, especially with a man like Saxon! He was HAWT!!

I loved Saxon. He was good looking, rich, caring and had some sexy cave-man characteristics going on that made me blush! All of these qualities attracted Brooke and before long she felt the same way but I wasn't so sure that she would ever be able to move on from her husband.

"How can something so wrong feel so right?"

Saxon fell for Brooke in a big way and he would do anything for her but I was worried that he was going to get his heartbroken. I felt truly sorry for him

"How can you not see?"
"Not see what?"
"You do belong here. Right here, by my side. That's where you belong Brooke."

I did like this story, however I didn't love it. I felt that the first half was a little slow and I wasn't sure if I should continue. I am glad I did though because at around fifty percent the plot began to get a more exciting and from that point on, I truly enjoyed what I was reading.

This story was written from both Brooke and Saxon's POV which is always a bonus and I loved having the opportunity to get a first account account of each of their thoughts and feelings.

Although this is the first book in a series, it can be read as a stand alone.

For me, "Wherever You Will Go" started out at three hearts but improved so much in the second half that overall it gets 4 Hearts.

Excerpt:

Gripping her hips so tightly she can no longer shake and shimmy them, I try to gain some kind of control over my anger. What the fuck is she doing?

As I step up behind her and hold her tight against me, the douche touching her releases his hands and steps back. Good idea, buddy. Brooke hasn’t turned to look at who it is, but I know from the way her body relaxed into mine that she knows it’s me.

“What are you doing, Brooke?” I say into her ear, trying to keep all traces of anger out of my voice. If she was mine, if I wasn’t so scared of pushing her away, I would have picked her up and thrown her over my shoulder and carried her the fuck out of here.

She turns her head slightly towards me. “I told you it was girls’ night tonight,” she says defensively.

“You know what I mean.” I grip her hips harder and pull her against me tighter as my control begins to snap.

She turns around in my arms and steps out of my embrace. “Saxon …” She’s frustrated and becoming flustered as she tries to find her words.

I don’t think about it as I grab her hand and begin to pull her off the dance floor. I don’t miss the curious looks from the two blondes, the confusion on Rachel’s face, or the smirk on Harper’s.

I couldn’t care what any of them think or if any of them find out. I actually wish they would. I want everyone to know Brooke is mine.

I don’t care how she feels about what we are doing, what she thinks it is—she is mine. I wanted to stake my claim on that dance floor. Tell that douche he better not put his hands on what’s mine and then take Brooke into my arms and show everyone exactly who she belongs to.

Of course I couldn’t do anything because I live in a constant state of panic, watching everything I say and do, living in the fear of scaring her off.
