Synopsis:

In darkness, we find danger. In danger, I find Beau.

Ash is a prison guard, she's tough, she's strong and she never backs away from a fight. She takes her job seriously, she takes her training seriously, and everything in her life goes as planned.

Until the day he is brought into the prison.

She'll never forget meeting Beau 'Krypt' Dawson for the first time. She'll never forget his haunted eyes and his numb expression. He's a member of the Jokers Wrath MC and it is said he killed an innocent family in the middle of a cafe, in cold blood.

Deranged. Crazy. Psychotic.
All those words describe the infamous Krypt, but Ash suspects there's far more to the quiet man than meets the eye. Secrets are being hidden by the club, information is being kept under wraps. Krypt is silent for a reason.

Ash is desperate to know that reason.

Continually fighting, Krypt is transferred to a high security prison. Ash is in charge. She's always prepared, always alert. Not even her skills will stop the club from ambushing them and taking back Krypt. Only Ash ends up right in the middle of it.
They take her, too.

Now she's stuck with a Motorcycle Club who are tougher than any prisoner she's ever laid eyes on. And they won't let her go. She's too much of a risk. Until the situation can be sorted, they send her and Krypt into the mountains together....alone.
An epic, dangerous love will be built on the foundations of darkness.

Review: Surj Harvey

Writing a 'biker' book isn't easy... it takes balls... like big, huge balls because the world of a motorcycle club (if depicted correctly) is rarely hearts and flowers. In fact far from it. Bikers live a certain way of life. They have their own set of rules. It's usually a world knee deep in criminal activity, where men are the dominant sex and women... well women tend to get used and occasionally abused. Trying to roll all of that into a romance novel is a difficult task, one I would trust with (only) a hand full of authors and Bella Jewel is one of them.

I first fell in love with this author's work way back when she wrote her first series entitled "MC Sinners" and I haven't looked back since. Yes she's gone on to write other books but I'm so glad she decided to go back to bad ass bikers in her latest series "Joker's Wrath MC" because... well... she has bikers down to a T.

Krypt is my little piece of heaven, the fantasy I can't have but want.
When I'm with him, I forget that he can never be mine.

"Precarious" was a fantastic introduction to this latest Motorcycle club. It had a raw gritty edge to it which I would expect from a book of this nature but it was balanced perfectly with some light hearted humour which I absolutely loved. Add a kick ass heroine and one very hot alpha into the mix and this was one book which held my attention from start to finish.

Ash was a fantastic female lead. She was fiercely independent, feisty, sassy and knew how to take care of herself. Her upfront attitude was one to be admired...her upfront attitude also got her into a whole load of trouble!!!

“I hear you’re feisty,” he murmurs, letting his gaze travel down my body.
“I like them like that.”

I shiver. Oh boy. I straighten and uncross my arms.
“Good for you. I like mine outside a cell.”

And Krypt... holy moly was that man all kinds of knee buckling hotness. He was broody, moody and liked to be in charge including in the bedroom and when these two bumped uglies.... well, even I blushed... talk about living out your fantasies!!! (fans self).

“When I fuck, I like to fuck with a raw ferocity most women can’t handle. I don’t make love.
I want you up against a wall, my hands tangled in your hair while my cock is driving in
and out of you. My hands won’t be gentle; my cock won’t be gentle; and baby,” he growls,
“I won’t be fuckin’ gentle.”

Put these two together and the chemistry was absolutely there (well what would be the point in reading on if it wasn't... right?) but they were from two different worlds that abided by two very different sets of rules... it was an impossible situation. I could completely relate to Ash's reluctance to commit to anything more than a physical relationship because she had so much to lose. It went against everything she stood for... plus she was not in the business of becoming anyone's property... even if that someone made her vagina do all sorts of crazy!!! I liked that she stood her ground even if she did get jealous as hell. It just made her character all the more relatable and believable.

"And if I'm not your old lady?"

" Then I gotta stop fuckin' you, cause, baby, you're consuming me"

"Precarious" was jam packed full of drama and action... well of course it was. It was hardly going to be a bed of roses when two rival gangs came to loggerheads. There were stabbings, shoot outs, kidnappings, betrayal and double crossings... you name it, we got it but it was all a days work for these bad boys. I loved this element of the story as much as I loved the romance. I was definitely kept on my toes that's for sure.

I can't wait to get my hands on the next book which will be Maddox and Santana's book. I'm dying to know what the president of the Joker's Wwrath MC is hiding and I have my knickers in a twist over how their story will unfold. Another job well done Bella Jewel. I rated "Precarious" 4 Stars

NB: I know a few people have mentioned not being happy with something that happened towards the end of the book. To be honest I was so caught up in the moment, even I didn't think about the fall out of the characters action. It was only when the proverbial hit the fan that I actually suddenly thought "oh crap!!!" It'll be interesting to see how this element of the story develops but up until then, I'm not going to make any judgement.
