Synopsis:

Every fighter is drawn to the violence, the release that a perfect hit can bring.

But very few are drawn to the pain.

Rex Carter lives behind a wall of indifference. The demons from his childhood act as an anesthetic, keeping him distant from emotional connections. Only the ache from a knock to the jaw, the sting of a tattoo needle, or the heat from a piercing can jolt him back from the numbness. The fiery pain is all he can feel, and nothing compares to the burn.

Or so he thought.

Working in a Las Vegas bar isn’t Georgia McIntyre’s dream. But she hopes it’ll be an end to the nightmare.

She’s watched him, followed him and kept tabs, all in preparation for this moment: to make amends and share the secret she’s been carrying since she was a kid. But she didn’t count on the feelings that seeing him again would stir up, the vacant look in his stormy-blue eyes, and his perfect body now mutilated by ink and metal.

And she knows why. She’s lived his pain every single day, since the day he left.

Changed by time, Rex doesn’t remember the girl from his past. If only she could do the same.

Will she get the absolution she’s spent her life seeking?

Or will he continue Fighting to Forget?

Blog Tour Review: Kirsty Lander

This Fighting series is one of my favourites out there. J.B. Salsbury has created some of the most complex but interested characters I've ever read about. She takes real, painful issues and expertly weaves them in to an addicting and enjoyable read.

"Danger, possible death, pain . . . there's nothing that compares. Not drugs, sex, or money."

I'm not going to lie, Fighting to Forget was my least favourite out of all the books in the series, but I still thoroughly enjoyed erasing it. When you have books as brilliant as the first two in the series, I imagine it's hard to outdo them!

I didn't remember too much about Rex when I started this book, but from the synopsis I already knew that I was dying to know his story and what made him tick. What was so horrific in his childhood that made him the man he is today? I was dying to know. The story to find out the ins and outs of Rex was.. horrific and heartbreaking. I know issues like those in the book happen in the real world, but reading about it and more importantly, the impact it can have on someone's life, was such a shock to the system. The author made everything about Rex so realistic.

"They can't hurt you anymore."
"But they do."

I wasn't a massive fan of Georgia/Mac's character to start with. I couldn't put my finger on what I didn't like, but I think it was largely due to the secret she was keeping from Rex and I just wanted to shake her and make her realise the error in her ways. Of course we wouldn't have had much of a story if she told him straight away ;) Rex and Mac start out strictly as friends. Rex can't handle more than that and everything that develops between them happens slowly, at the only pace he can allow. I loved that. So many books, regardless of issues the characters have, seem to revolve around them jumping feet first in to a relationship and it going horribly wrong. Luckily that wasn't the case here.

♫ "Pain is seductive
Pleasure as well
I'm the sickness between them
In my own personal hell." ♫

There were definitely a few tear jerker moments in this book which I also loved. I feel like it's been so long since a book had me feeling that emotional so it was a really great change. Regardless of me not loving this book as much as the two, it was still a brilliant read that I highly recommend. I can't wait to see what comes next. I rated "Fighting to Forget" 4 Hearts
