Synopsis:

Ellie Parker is a master at building walls around her heart. In the twenty-five years she’s been alive, Dex Remington has been the only person who has always believed in her and been there for her. But four years earlier she came to Dex seeking comfort, and then disappeared like a thief in the night, leaving him a broken man.

Dex Remington is one of the top PC game developers in the U.S. He’s handsome, smart, and numb. So damn numb that he’s not sure he’ll ever find a reason to feel again.

A chance encounter sparks intense desires in Ellie and Dex. Desires that make her want to run—and make him want to feel. A combination of lust and fear leads these young lovers down a dangerous path. Is it possible to cross a burned bridge or are they destined to be apart forever?

Blog Tour Review: Jo Rushton

"Game of Love" followed the story of Dex and Ellie who were childhood friends, living in the same neighborhood.  Over the time that they were together, Dex had fallen in love with Ellie. She had been his first love, and he was left crushed when she moved away breaking contact.

Fast forward a few years and  Dex had become a hot shot games designer who was drop dead gorgeous and sexy as sin. Yes he'd changed, grown up but one thing that remained the same were his feelings for Ellie.... she was still buried deep in his heart and a chance encounter in a bar meant all those feelings resurfaced. Dex was a determined man and he wasn't about to let the only woman who had captured his heart leave him again.

"Ellie wasn't safe. She was kryptonite. She'd only bring him more pain.
But he'd never been able to walk away from her."

I loved Ellie and Dex, they were both such nice people and as a couple they were perfect together. Ellie had gone through some really tough times so she truly deserved some happiness in her life so thank god Dex came along just at the right time. It melted my heart to know that Dex had never stopped loving Ellie, I only hoped that she felt the same way.

"You can always be sure of me Ellie. Just don't break me.
I can't go through it again. Twice just about killed me."

The story became a journey of second chance love but it wasn't an easy journey. There a few bumps along the road but I remained hopeful that a happy ending was in sight.

"I know the woman you are, and I love the woman you are. But if we're gonna ever be a
real couple, a forever couple, we have to deal with this shit head-on. I'm not giving up,
but I'm not setting myself up to be hurt again either.
I can't do this alone, Ellie. You're either all in or all out."

I found "Game of Love" to be sweet, romantic and heart warming. It's perfect  if you are looking for something that is easy to read without pulling at your heart strings too much. Although this is the first book in the series it can be read as a stand alone.

I give "Game of Love" 3.5 hearts.
