Blog Tour Review: Surj Harvey

"Rare and Precious Things" was such a perfect conclusion to what was a beautiful, heart felt love story and I'm so gutted my time with Ethan and Brynne Blackstone has come to an end. I've loved the journey this couple have taken to find their "Happily Ever After" and it is a true testament to how the unconditional and unwavering love of a person can really help you overcome all the adversities life can throw at you... and trust me, these two overcame so much... even in this fourth and final book.

"Rare and Precious Things" began where "Eyes Wide Open" finished and we got to see Ethan and Brynne tie the knot. Although it wasn't the wedding either had wanted, it was still wonderful to share their special day with them... and trust me... special it was (particularly the night!!! wink wink). A good proportion of the first half of this book was most definitely hearts and flowers as I got to read about the solid bond, the deep connection these two shared. They loved one another, there was no question and they would do everything in their power to ensure the others happiness and well being. It was like they needed each other in order to breathe, in order to function and that's a rare and precious thing most couples can only dream of... it was perfect.

"I need you like I need air to breathe. You are my air."

Unfortunately, the road ahead for Brynne and Ethan wasn't a smooth one and with the past hot on their heels, I knew that there would be a few heart breaking moments as I reached the finish line... and I wasn't wrong. Be prepared to come face to face with the nightmares that have haunted this couple over the years but be prepared to be bowled over by how the love and support they share will help them overcome even the toughest of obstacles. There were moments I could have cried for Brynne and Ethan, moments my heart hurt for them but my faith in them remained strong and in my heart of hearts I had a feeling they would be just fine... well it is the final book after all.

In the hours of the darkest kind, Brynne has ever been my light.
My lover who saw inside my battered soul and freed me.

Over the course of the four books, I really saw the characters grow and develop and become comfortable in their own skin. As individuals, they had a strength and as a couple, they were unbreakable. Ethan loved Brynne and would happily shout it for the world to hear and in this book, I saw a softer, more gentle side to his character that I absolutely adored. Don't get me wrong, he was still all alpha, possessive and dominant but more so in the bedroom than in their day to day lives. The sex between these two remained passionate, heated, desperate, aggressive, rough at times but it was beautiful and hot and delicious and toe curling (the list could go on!!). Some of the things Ethan did just had me in stitches (particularly his use of profanities (Clusterfuck motherfucking load of steamy shit)  and other things just melted my heart and that clearly showed me he'd found a place in his life where he was a peace. The love of a good woman can do that to a man!!! The thing that really struck me was his desire to leave his past behind in order to begin his new life as a husband to Brynne and that just made me feel so proud.

“Brynne was my life. The last piece of my puzzle that had finally completed me.

I just needed a way to tell her somehow…I wanted her to know how happy

I was…because I had been blessed with the rare and precious gift…of loving her.

Rare and Precious Things" was beautifully written and the flow seamless. I loved taking that little trip down memory lane too, going back to where this love affair all started. Raine Miller really did write just a beautiful, magical, perfect, heart warming ending to a love story that will always stay with me and Ethan Blackstone, will be forever remain in my top five book boyfriends that stole a piece of my heart and never returned it.

Thank you for Ethan and Brynne Blackstone Raine Miller. I rated this book 4 Hearts. I now need to get off my arse and read "Cherry Girl."

Excerpt:

“What are we doing on the beach?” I asked, as he led me along the cool sand under my bare feet.

“Having our date. Trust me, baby. This is something I have all planned out for us.”

“I bet you do. I am well aware that when you say date you really mean sex—”

My words were lost as we rounded a turn in the beach path and came out onto the shore. The waves lapped at the sand with the soothing sounds of water moving against earth. A sliver of moon glowed up over the water, but the real beauty was the many glass jars lit up with tea lights set out on the soft sand of the beach. What seemed like hundreds of them flickering away around a pallet of blankets and pillows. Off to one side, sat a bucket of iced drinks and what appeared to be little dessert cakes on a tray with some fresh fruit.

“It’s beautiful, Ethan.” I could hardly speak as I realized what he’d done. “How did you do…all of this?”

He led us onto the blankets and drew me down to sit beside him. “It was my idea,” he began, “but I needed some help to pull it off. Franco got it organized while we were at the party.”

I looked around behind us, imaging if the caretaker for our villa was lurking in the dark hoping for a glimpse.

“I know what you’re thinking, but you don’t have to worry, baby, Franco is not in the bushes watching, trust me.”

I laughed nervously. “Well, if Franco is in the bushes somewhere, I am predicting he’s gonna get one hell of a show.”

“Now that’s what I like to hear. My girl accepting the idea of a hot beach shag,” he whispered teasingly against my ear, his tongue flicking out for a lick along the shell. “You like my surprise.”

My body came instantly alive, needing him so badly. Ethan could get me hot with just the simplest look or touch. He reached up and worked on the messy knot holding up my hair and unpinned it. He was getting good at figuring out my hair. It made me smile to watch him as he found the pins and pulled them, knowing how he’d be fisting my hair in handfuls and using it to dominate when we were deep into the sex.

“You’re smiling,” he murmured as he worked over my hair.

“I just love to watch you doing simple things.”

My hair fell free. “This is not a simple thing to me,” he whispered, fingering through the tangled length with both hands. His gaze grew smoky as he focused on my lips. “It’s everything.”

About Raine Miller:

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.
