Synopsis:

Fate brings them together.Fame & lies keep them apart. One truth remains…

She’s become the Paly High girl with the most tragic story…
At 17, Tally Landon just wants to graduate and leave for New York to pursue ballet. Her best friend Marla convinces her to attend one last party—a college party—where she can be among strangers and evade the whisperings about her heartbreaking loss of her twin that follows her everywhere she goes. She meets Lincoln Presley, Stanford’s famous baseball wonder and has a little fun at his expense—when she lies about her age and who she really is—intent on being someone else for the night and escaping her tragic story.

His only focus is baseball, but he can’t forget the girl he saved on Valentine’s Day…
At 22, Lincoln Presley’s star is on the rise—about to finish at Stanford and expected to be taken early in Major League Baseball’s upcoming draft—his cousin’s party serves as a welcome distraction. But then, he sees the girl from Valentine’s Day that he saved from that horrific car accident and can’t quite hide his disappointment when she appears to look right through him and not remember him at all. He vows to learn her name at least before he leaves. What’s the harm in getting to know this girl? What’s the worst that can happen?

They share this incredible connection, but fate soon tests these star-crossed lovers in all kinds of ways...
And yet, despite the lies being told to protect the other, and the trappings of fame that continually separate them, and in lieu of the deception by those they’ve come to trust the most; one truth remains.

This much is true.

My Review- Jo Rushton:

This is the first book I've read by Katherine Owen. When I read the blurb, the first thing that sprang to mind was that "This Much is True" was right up my street. However although there good parts to the story, I have to say, I was a little disappointed overall.

The story's main character was 17 year old, up and coming ballet star, "Tally". Tally was really struggling after the death of her twin sister in a car accident and had  shut everyone out of her life, putting all of her energy and focus into dancing. Even when she met "Linc" at a party she was adamant that he would be nothing more then a one night stand. Yeah right!!!

"Here is the truth: I am the female version of a heartbreaker. The one that everyone says
is too dedicated to ballet, too self involved to ever care about anyone else besides herself.
I'm the rebel. The bad twin. I am Tally-the loner, the party of one. The love and leave'em
proto-type. Heartless. That is me. I have no time for romance, flowers, or relationships."

Linc was a 22 year old baseball player who first met Tally when he rescued her from the car accident that killed her sister. When their paths crossed again at a party, he found himself drawn to her, like a moth to a flame.

"I'm in love with this girl. It's all wrong. The timing sucks. Her age sucks.
Even so, I chose to ignore all that because I am in love with Tally Landon."

Well ife didn't go to plan for Tally and Linc and so many things went wrong for them. Their romance was definitely not an easy one and throughout most of the story I was convinced that this couple were just not meant to be. They kept making one wrong decision after another and I wondered if they would ever  find their happy ever after?

Unfortunately, I found Tally's character really annoying. She was so negative all of the time and despite living the dream of being a world famous ballet dancer, her life came across as really dull. What were supposed to be some really exciting moments didn't transcend from the page well, at all. Her character lacked any kind of excitement. Don't get me wrong, I did feel sorry for her but she made so many bad choices and in the end she drove me mad.

On a positive note, I really liked "Linc". He was kind, caring and very sweet. He fell in love with Tally right from the start,  becoming obsessed with her. I couldn't really understand the reason why Linc was so attracted to Tally but whatever it was that boy had it bad!

"I love you. I have loved you from the very first moment we met; in that first second of
looking into your eyes in what must have been the saddest moment of your life,
but I knew it would always be you."

The writing was not great and at times, I felt, a little confusing. .It had a good plot but the story didn't deliver much more than that. I found that in parts, it began to drag. It wasn't an easy book to read and I became increasingly frustrated and impatient to see if the couple were ever going to make it work out between them. I did however really enjoy the last chapter and the story did redeem its self slightly. It was a perfect ending, an ending that I, as well as Tally and Linc really wanted. At long last Tally and Linc got their happy ending.
I rate "This Much is True" 3 hearts.
