~ 4 Hearts Review ~

Synopsis:

Kat Kennedy moved to the rugged coast of Maine to start a new life, but encountered much more than she bargained for in dark, dangerous, and seductive Lane Wild…

Desire and temptation smolder before she succumbs to her darkest fantasies with the captivating stranger. She doesn’t expect to see him again after an explosive one-night stand leaves her breathless and craving more, but just like lightning in the darkness, he shows up in her life at the most unpredictable moments.

A sensual game of cat and mouse ensues before the attraction between them reaches a fever pitch—the magnetism combustible, the sexual tension nearly unbearable—and Kat finally abandons inhibition and explores the cunning, selfish, and sexual side of a world she’s never known.

They have the perfect non-relationship—passion-fueled nights with no strings attached—until life gets real and the past and present collide in a dangerous storm of lust and obsession.

Blog Tour Review:

Wow Adriane Leigh, wasn't this book just full of surprises!!! Don't get me wrong, the synopsis already had me sucked in but I definitely got so much more than I bargained for. Yes "Wild" was an erotic romance but there was mystery, suspense, drama by the bucket loads and an action packed finale that had me on the edge of my seat... like I said... soooo not expected but definitely the icing on the cake.

Lane Wild was my lovable rogue. He didn't do relationships, he had sex... he fucked for want of a better word... and this guy was good at it.. like really good. If the prologue was anything to go by, I knew the hot flush I was experiencing would be the first of many and I wasn't wrong. Despite his cockiness and  his arrogance, I liked him. There was just something that drew me to him... maybe his confidence, his straight talking attitude, his dirty mouth, his animalistic tendencies in the bedroom (or up against a wall, on the bar, on the floor, in the car)? Actually, come to think of it, I think it was all of the above and more. This guy was smokin' hot:

The women fawned over him and the guys hung out with him.
He was so much fucking trouble, I could see it pouring off him.

Don't get me wrong though, he wasn't a bastard with it. Like I said, he was always honest and upfront which is always a bonus in my book.

Kat Kennedy was running from something, that much I could definitely tell, but the rest was a mystery. This woman was a closed book when it came to her personal life but she intrigued me. She was strong in character, knew exactly what she wanted (and didn't want) and wasn't afraid to speak her mind. I liked her feistiness, her attitude... it was refreshing to see:

I'd never seen a woman who played so innocent during the daylight hours, but give her a drink
and the comfort of darkness and she came alive, sex pouring out of every pore.

On a plus for Lane Wild, Kat  didn't do commitment either. Hell no, and time and time again she would reiterate that fact:

"I'm not yours. I'm not anyone's. Get that straight. You want to fuck, Lane.
We can fuck. But that's all your getting."

Why was she so adverse to a relationship? What was she hiding? Adriane Leigh was  going to keep me guessing on this one but it was fine because I was most definitely kept entertained until she was ready to drop that bomb shell.

The connection between Lane and Kat was explosive. Their banter was brilliant, it was to the point and with quick retorts but very early on, I could see it turning into more. 'Fuck buddies' my ass, these two were heading into murky waters. They could fight it all they wanted but chapters from both POV clearly showed they were under each others skin.... I loved it. Their merry little dance of plausible deniability kept me reading but it was the passion they shared between the sheets that had my heart rate doing ridiculous things. The dirty talking (on both sides I might add), the experimenting, the rawness of emotions, the need, the desire... well fuck a duck if I didn't need a long, cold shower after reading this book (or something else but we won't go into that!!!).

"Remember my fingers inside you, your own come all over your body because I put it there."

As much as their relationship on the most part was physical, I also saw a gentle side to each character when they were together and that just sealed the deal for me. Yes the sexual chemistry was off the charts  but I could see it plain as day... there was definitely an emotional connection building there.

I loved that although the main story line kept me engrossed, there were a couple of sub plots just waiting in the wings getting ready to make their appearances. Yup, Adriane Leigh dropped in tiny nuggets of information  periodically, hinting at events that were yet to unfold. However, nothing could have prepared me for the twists that came at the tail end of the book. It was an action packed, nail biting finale  that had me frantically reading and Adriane ... you definitely didn't hold back ...it was cold, brutal, horrific and the final curve ball???? Well holy crap because never in a month of Sundays did I see that one coming.

I loved getting to know Lane and Kat and I loved following their story. It wasn't always plain sailing... OK so it was more thunderstorms than  sunshine and flowers but hey, they got there in the end... I can say that because this can be read as a standalone!!!

... she was my reason. My reason for breathing. My reason for living. My reason for it all.

I rated "Wild" 4 Hearts. It's definitely worth the click and I can't wait for the next two books in the series: Ridge and Slade's stories!!! yum.
