Synopsis:

What do you do when everything you avoid, turns out to be exactly what you need?

Easy and predictable, just the way he likes it, Blake Daniels flies through life the way he burns through women: on his terms, no regrets.

With his fighting career in full swing, he’s on the threshold of title contention. But when his training is compromised by injury, the stakes grow impossibly higher. The rage that fuels his punches also chips away at his focus, and he risks losing everything he cares about.

He won’t let that happen. Not again.

Layla’s through with men. After a marriage that never should’ve happened, she hopes to reclaim the pieces of the woman she lost years ago.
Emotional abuse has left her insecure and terrified. A master at faking what she’s not feeling, she masks her self-doubt in false confidence.
She’ll never let another man hurt her. Not again.

Chased by shadows of the past, Blake and Layla know what they don’t want, but their hearts have a different plan. As a web of lies and betrayal threatens to destroy them, they’re forced to make a choice.

Is love enough to heal even the deepest wounds?

Blog Tour Review: Kirsty Lander

Ladies and gents.. take note. That is exactly how you write a sequel. So often these days I wait months and months for a sequel, feeling so excited and I'm.. disappointed. It's not as good as the first, I lose interested and ultimately wish I had never bothered. I was SO pleased that that wasn't the case here.

Anyone who read Fighting for Flight will remember Blake and, if you're anything like me, already be loving him big time. The second I knew the next book in the series was going to be his I was excited. He's in an interesting character and it doesn't hurt that he's a hot as hell fighter. But that's not all.. he has another secret talent, aside from his fighting, that just knocks other book boyfriends to the floor in comparison. He was all kinds of perfect.

"Well, fuck me. What's a girl like you doing in a dirty mind like mine?"

Layla was quite literally the most perfect woman for Blake, in every sense of the word. Having both come from a life of pain, abusive relationships and parents who couldn't give a damn, not only did they have an intense physical connection, but an emotional one too. They got each other in every way and reading about them both overcoming their struggles made an incredible story. Layla was finally able to escape her abusive husband, moving her and her daughter, Axelle, to Las Vegas to start anew. There was no annoying indecisiveness on Layla's part.. she knew she wanted Blake, but she also knew she had a lifetime of pain to deal with beforehand. I understood and appreciated every one of her worries.

"Layla chose the fight, the struggle, and the sacrifice."

J.B. Salsbury's writing once again doesn't disappoint. Who knew that reading about the UFL could be so interesting? I know for sure I didn't and now I'm thinking I need to investigate this a little more and see what I am missing out on! OK.. all jokes aside, the writing in this book keeps you hooked from start to finish. I love the knowledge of the UFL, I love that she is able to have you feeling all kinds of emotions and I especially enjoyed seeing the womaniser Blake turn in to a guy full of so much love not only for Layla, but her daughter too.

"I know it sounds silly. But, everyone needs someone fighting in their corner, Blake.
I've never had that, and neither have you. You own my heart, and everything that comes with it."

Before I forget I have to mention the ending, mainly the epilogue.. It's not often these days that I get a little teary eyed when reading an ending, not unless it's really out of this world. This one was out of this world and I had full on tears. It was beyond beautiful and the perfect way to end the book. I'm already looking forward to book #3 and will be stalking Jamie's Facebook Fan page for a release date.. teaser.. anything.
I rated "Fighting to Forgive" 5 Big Hearts
