Synopsis:

While the chaos and bloodshed have slowed for a short period, life is never quiet in the world of Breakneck. The club is taking time to regroup from internal betrayal and the changing of the guard in a rival group.
Zig Zag became a father at the age of thirteen. While raising a child has never been easy, now his eighteen year old daughter Tatiana makes his life downright hard. She has caught the eye of Travis, the new President of the rival MC Gunners, but all she really wants is Shadow, the newest addition to the Breakneck family. When Shadow’s rejection sends Tatiana running from the only family, home, and safety she’s ever known, ZZ is crazy with worry. The distraction caused by Tatiana’s disappearance could prove to be Zig Zag’s downfall.

If that isn’t enough, ZZ finds himself rampantly attracted to the one and only Storm. She’s beautiful, quick and witty. Their friendship is the one thing that keeps him from growing crazy, and Storm stands by ZZ through all the turmoil. Zig Zag is not accustomed to hearing the word no, so Storm’s constant withstanding just draws him in deeper. Their friendship is one thing keeping him from going crazy, until one night…

The club is regrouping and rebuilding from the mayhem known as the Russian Mafia. A hit is ordered on Tatiana, Storm, Winter, and Piper.

Tatiana’s egg donor reveals secrets that a thirteen year old Zig Zag was too young to understand.

Braxxon is out of reach while he helps Greg Cage deal with some dirty business.

Bloodshed… Secrets… Betrayal… Trauma… Welcome back to the Breakneck world.

Blog Tour Review: Surj Harvey

Crystal Spears "Seize Me" was one of those books that pulled me completely out of my comfort zone. It was raw, gritty and it was brutal but honestly, I absolutely loved it. From the plot to the characters, there wasn't a single thing I would've changed even though there were times it was really uncomfortable to read. So yes I fell in love with the crazy world of Breakneck MC.

So how did "Withstanding Me" fair as a sequel? It was good, I enjoyed the story line and met even more of the Breakneck posse (don't tell them I called them that!!! lol) but there were certain aspects that were present in the first book that were missing in this one. Please please please don't think for one second that I didn't enjoy "Withstanding Me" because I truly did but I missed that edginess, that shock factor that I got in book # 1.

"Withstanding Me" started where "Seize Me" finished. A war had been fought, blood had been shed but the battle had most definitely been won. Now Breakneck MC were enjoying some well earned peace and quiet, making the most of the calm, knowing full well, another storm wouldn't be far away. Braxxon and Winter were planning their wedding (OK so Winter was), Storm was running a very successful "Club Sated"  and Zig Zag, well I'd say he was the exception to the rule because his life was far from calm and tranquil. He had a daughter who was hell bent on fraternizing with the enemy and a woman who kept saying "no" to his advances, not something he was used to:

She's always withstanding me, and I fucking hate that she's the only female that doesn't
swoon over my tactics. I've never had to deal with this shit before and hell if I like it.

There were so many sides to ZZ in this book. Yes he was most definitely a bad ass biker, yes he loved his pussy, his drugs and his alcohol, and yes he loved his club but I saw a softer side to him too. That came through when he talked about his daughter Tatiana but also when he talked to Storm. He might not be ready to admit it but this guy had feelings for her.. feelings that ran far deeper than just friendship:

“How much longer are you gonna keep withstanding me, darlin?”
Storm stands up straight and grabs the clipboard off the bar before answering me. And what she says blows my fucking mind wide open.
“Just until you fall in love with me,” she says seriously.
Love? “I don’t fall in love, baby.”
She slowly backs away smiling. “Oh, but you will and it’ll be with me,” she says with a wink.
Fuck Me.

Unfortunately it was tragedy that brought them together in the end and it was this tragedy that made ZZ realise he wanted to try and make a go of it with her.

After everything Storm had been through, this girl made my heart swell because she was true to herself. She knew exactly what she wanted from life and would settle for nothing less... she wanted more than just a fuck... she wanted a relationship... she wanted ZZ and she was quite happy to tell him so even though she knew what his response would be:

"ZZ... look... I want you, you know I do, but not the same way you want me. I want more.
I know you can give me this. I just know it, but I'm tired of waiting. I'm ready, damn am I ready,
but you never will be even though you can be. Baby, I'll be your best friend. I'll be the voice
you need to hear, but I won't be the body you want to be near. Because baby,
you just want a few nights and I want more than that from you."

I loved that she called him "Mason." It was so personal and heart felt on her part. They truly were friends if nothing else. As well as strong in mind and confident in person, Storm was funny, witty even and was completely and utterly loyal to her new family and friends. This is where she belonged now and although it was no fairytale, it was home.

Talking of family, I met so many members of  Breakneck MC in this book and several different POV were given (ZZ, Storm, Shadow, Tatiana, Winter, Braxxon, Pyro, Sniper, Piper to name but a few.) For me, it was too many. I was introduced to so many different potential story lines and possible relationships, that I do feel it took a little away from ZZ and Storm's story. However, the one book I can't wait to get my mits on is Shadow and Tatiana's. Shadow intrigued me from the minute I was introduced to him and I was desperate to know what his "other Life" was. I knew Tatiana was delving into it and it was referred to on several occasions but for the life of me, I couldn't work it out. When it was finally revealed, I knew I needed to know more about this man. Lucky me because I got an insight into his story at the end of "Withstanding Me"  and believe me, this is one book you're not going to want to miss.

I loved that I got to see more of Braxxon and Winter too... and by god was that man was pussy whipped!!!! lol. And Winter... she was a woman on a mission and she was taking no prisoners. She was building her empire and no one was going to stand in her way... including the Russian Mafia who had put a hit on her!

Although "Withstanding Me" gave me the bad language, violence, drugs, alcohol and shoot outs, I found it just wasn't as hard core as "Seize Me." It seemed toned down and I missed those nervous, uncomfortable moments. I wanted that shock value, I wanted more drama, more violence, more drugs, more blood and guts because that was the life of Breakneck MC. I think if certain aspects of the story line had been explored more, I may have got that. I wanted Mira to meddle more, I wanted more made of the new additon to the family, maybe more made of Winter's mothers arrival and Storm's past which was touched upon.

Overall, it was a good read, not as amazing as "Seize Me." However, I am 100% invested in this series so Crystal Spears... bring on more Breakneck. I can't wait.
I rated "Withstanding Me" 3.5 - 4 hearts
