Review: E L James's "The Mister."

Synopsis:

London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past. Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

Review: Jo

There is something about EL James’s work that pulls me in and keeps me hooked from beginning to end. She has some kind of unique magic, I’m sure of it. Every single time I had to put my kindle down, I couldn’t wait to pick it back up again. I was reading at every available opportunity. Even waking up in the night to read, and I haven’t done that for a long while. I loved this wonderfully charming and fairy tale like romance. EL James is certainly no one hit wonder. I’m already excited for more from Erika and hoping that this book can’t be just a standalone. I am left absolutely desperate for more from Alessia and Maxim.

"...I tried to stay away from her, but I couldn’t,
because she’s carved her way into my heart."

As a huge fan of Fifty, I was crazy excited when this book was announced. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy. However, as the days grew closer to the release. I was also feeling apprehensive to what I would truly think of this new book. I have such high regard for Christian and Ana’s beautiful story. But this is a totally different novel to Fifty and really should not be compared. “The Mister” deserves to be praised as a novel in its own right. It is a sweet, heart lifting love story that was just about perfect for this romance loving girl.

"He loves her, and she loves him. And the future stretches before her, full of possibility."

When I first read the synopsis to this book, I sort of thought that I knew what kinda story it would be. How it would play out and what the characters would be like, but as I now have learned. It was totally different to what I was expecting. I really loved that EL could surprise me with a romance to melt my heart. The characters were so easy to fall in love with. I pretty much loved Alessia as soon as I met her. She was such a sweet, kind and caring girl and after discovering more about Alessia, I knew that she truly deserved something magical to happen to her. She was a heroine to one hundred percent root for. Maxim made the handsome hero of the story. There really wasn’t anything that I didn’t love about this gorgeous man. I especially loved how quickly and how deeply he fell for Alessia. He was so loving and protective towards her and it made me so happy to see the pair together. By the time I had finished the final page, my heart was full to the brim.

‘Thank you for not giving up on me.’
Her voice is as soft as a summer breeze.
 ‘Never. I’ve got you. Always.’

“The Mister” was a delightful Cinderella style romance that contained enough heat, as well as a few stomach churning moments and heaps of dreamy love to keep me turning those pages. It gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.

Review: Jo

I’ve been wanting to read this series for a while now and I’m happy to say that it lived up to all of my expectations. This novel was a whole lot of fun mixed with some hot and sexy moments and a heap of romance. This was just the kinda read to take on holiday. Steamy, swoony and full of fun.

"Love me, love my friends."
"Oh, I do. Love you, that is."

What I loved most about this story was the friendship between Bonni, Celia, Ava and Fredi. They were such good friends, out for an exciting adventure together. Reading this book made me want to grab my girls and hop on a plane for a girly holiday. I also loved Bonni and Quinn’s scorching hot romance. From the moment their eyes met, their holiday romance was exciting and as hot as the Las Vegas sun. I enjoyed every bit of their story.

"I want to be the person who stays by your side, no matter what.
 I love you, Bonni."

Now I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series. I have a feeling they are going to put a big smile on my face. ""What Happens In Vegas" gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.

Review: Tiffany Reisz's "The Rose (The Red #2)."

Synopsis:

Bestselling author Tiffany Reisz returns with an imaginative tale of lust and magic, and the dangers unleashed when the two are combined...On the day of Lia's university graduation party, her parents--wealthy art collectors with friends in high places--gift her a beautiful wine cup, a rare artifact decorated with roses. It's a stunning gift, and one that August Bowman, a friend of her parents and a guest at Lia's party, also has his eye on. The cup, August tells her, is known as the Rose Kylix, and it's no ordinary cup. It was used in the temple ceremonies of Eros, Greek god of erotic love, and has the power to bring the most intimate sexual fantasies to life. But Lia is skeptical of August's claims of the cup's mythology and magic--after all, he's a collector himself, and she suspects he just wants to get his hands on this impressive piece of art. So he dares her to try it for herself, and when Lia drinks from the Rose Kylix she is suddenly immersed in an erotic myth so vivid it seems real--as though she's living out the most sensual fantasy with August by her side...Realizing the true power of this ancient and dangerous relic, Lia is even more wary of giving it up, though August insists it is only safe with him. He's willing to pay the full value of the cup, but Lia has another type of trade in mind. One that finds them more tangled up in each other--and in fantasy--than either was prepared for.

Review: Jo

This was another captivating tale from one of my favourites. Tiffany Reisz has delivered a truly unique story that was utterly enchanting and in true Tiffany Reisz style, it was also scorching hot. I was mesmerised with every turn of the page.

"The thread of your life and the thread of mine
are knotted together for reasons unknown to me.
Don't fight fate, Lia. You will not win."

“The Rose” was a romance that completely swept me away, taking me on a journey from present day back in time to the Gods of Greek mythology. I was left spellbound by what was happening in each new magically erotic fantasy that Lia and August took part in. This compelling story all began when Lia was given an unusual gift for her birthday. From then on, Lia’s life was turned upside down as she discovered a new and exciting world accompanied by August.

"She wasn't afraid. As long as she was lost with August,
she didn't care if she ever found her way back again."

I easily became lost in this bewitching tale and loved reading about Lia and August and also adored seeing the pair become closer as the story progressed. I enjoyed getting to know Lia and August. I loved seeing the change in Lia and how her love blossomed over the course of the story. I was amused by Lia’s family and enjoyed the part that they played in the story. August was brilliant. I laughed out loud at his witty sense of humour and also loved getting to know his softer side and how much he cared for Lia.

"I'm going to make you fall in love with me. I don't know how, but I am."

This novel really did have it all. A compelling story, fantastic characters and a beautiful romance. I highly recommend reading The Rose. It gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me

Blog Tour: Lexi Ryan's "Crazy for Your Love (The Boys of Jackson Harbor #5)."

The Hopeless Romantics Book Blog are pleased to be part of the Blog Tour for Lexi Ryan's "Crazy for Your Love (The Boys of Jackson Harbor #5)."

Synopsis:

A family wedding with a fake boyfriend, meddling parents, and an obsessive ex . . . What could go wrong?

The only thing worse than being single at my sister’s wedding is finding out that my ex will be there too. Not just any ex—the guy everyone expected me to marry, the man I came to Jackson Harbor to escape.

Now I need a date, and fast. Enter Carter Jackson—the firefighter who’s dealing with an unwanted five minutes of fame ever since a shirtless photo of him saving a puppy went viral. He’s warding off propositions left and right, and he needs a fake relationship as much as I do.

Sweet and sexy, Carter is completely off-limits. See, I have a rule. A no heartache rule. Not only is Carter my friend and a known heartbreaker, but his job as a firefighter puts him in danger daily, and that’s something I just can’t handle.

The commitment between us might be pretend, but the passion all too real. As crazy as it makes me, I have to keep Carter at an arm’s length. Even that might not be enough to spare my heart.

Crazy for Your Love is book five in The Boys of Jackson Harbor series. All books in this series can be read as standalones.

Review: Jo

This book was a friends-to-lovers romance that had so much going on. It was a nail biting, heart stopping and a sexy kinda read. My emotions were all over the place. One minute I was excited and rooting for Carter and Teagan, and the next my heart was in my mouth and my stomach dropped as things weren’t going so well.  I recommend having a large glass of wine and a big block of chocolate near by. You may need them. Lol.

"Our lies are crumbling at our feet, and with them,
the fragile beginnings of this thing between us."

As with all of the Jackson boys that have gone before, I adored Carter.  He was so lovely with a big beautiful heart. I liked Teagan, but she made me a little bit crazy with the way she was holding back all of the time, keeping secrets and lying. I wanted so desperately for her to give Carter her heart, but then I discovered the truth and realised how messed up her past was. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.  This pair really did have so much going against them. I was left fearing for Carter and Teagan, wondering if they could ever make their relationship work. I’m not complaining though, because as the story came to the final few chapters, I was given an ending that I so badly needed. All of the heartache was worth it, because I absolutely loved seeing Carter and Teagan together and in love.

"I was scared of loving anyone.
But at some point, loving you became a good kind of scary."

“Crazy for Your Love” was one hell of a bumpy and emotional ride, and I loved every second of it. It gets 4.5 ❤️’s from me

Excerpt:

“The whole drive from the hospital, I told myself I wanted to check on you.” Carter wraps his hands around his coffee and looks up at me through thick, dark lashes most women would pay a premium for. “But the second I walked in the door, I knew that wasn’t what brought me here. I want to finish what we started.”

I bite my lip and whimper. “You’re killing me.”

“And when you look at me like that, all I want to do is seduce you into ignoring your better judgment.”

That! my traitorous body cries. Yes, let’s do that!

“But I get it,” he continues. “We’re friends, and as tempting as I find you—as tempting as I’ve always found you—if adding sex to our friendship is out of the question for you, this conversation is over. I want you, but I’m not enough of an idiot to ruin this just to take you to bed.”

My brain stumbles on as tempting as I’ve always found you before landing on adding sex to our friendship. Is that an option? Does that ever work? Crap on a cracker. I’ve known Carter for four years, and I’ve never had to exert so much self-control for something as simple as not straddling his lap.

“Tell me what you’re thinking.” His voice is low, a husky rumble that bypasses my brain and speaks directly to the parts of my anatomy I’d rather exclude from this conversation.

I’m thinking I want you too. I’m thinking we could be naked and in my bed in less than sixty seconds. “I’m thinking you should leave,” I blurt, pushing the words past the other really bad ideas on the tip of my tongue.

He blinks at me, then nods as he pushes out of his chair. “Sure. I understand.”

Jumping up, I catch his arm. I can feel the heat of his skin through the cotton of his shirt sleeve. “I’ve never done this.”

His eyes go wide. “Wow. I thought . . . Seriously?”

“Not sex, you idiot. The whole friends-with-benefits thing. I’m not sure I’m made that way.”

He’s quiet for a long beat. “If you need more than that from me, Tea, I—”

I press my fingers to his lips and shake my head before he can say anything else. I’m not hoping for more. More is out of the question for me with someone like Carter. But even so, I don’t want to hear that he doesn’t want anything either. I know it’ll feel like rejection—even if that makes me a hypocrite. “I don’t want more, but I don’t know if . . .”

I drop my hand from his mouth and lift onto my toes to press my lips to his. I want to know if it’ll feel like it did last night, and the second our mouths touch, I have my answer. Electric need zips through me. I loop my arms behind his neck, planning to take the kiss deeper.

He doesn’t let me. With a hand on either of my wrists, he pulls my arms away and steps back, his eyes dark. “I’ll go. You think. If we do this, it needs to be a decision, not an accident.”

I nod and watch him leave, but I stand there for a solid five minutes, considering running after him.

BLOG TOUR: Georgia Cates's "Eighty-One Nights (Beautiful Illusions Duet #1)."

The Hopeless Romantics Book Blog are pleased to be part of the Blog Tour for Georgia Cates's "Eighty-One Nights (Beautiful Illusions Duet #1)."

Synopsis:

Beautiful, penniless American girl meets handsome, wealthy Scotsman. Sounds like the beginning of a fairy-tale romance? It’s not.

This story begins with a contract. And an exchange of money. A lot of money.

An angel perches nervously on one shoulder. A devil lounges smugly on my other. And even that dark little bastard is leery of what I’m doing.

Maxwell Hutcheson wants the girlfriend experience. All of it. And I’m going to give it to him.

I’m not supposed to enjoy being his whore. I’m also not supposed to fall in love with him.
But I do. Both.

When our contract expires, I will walk away. Because I have to. But he’ll always have a piece of me.

I’ll mask my sorrow with a smile. I’ll hide my love with indifference… all while it’s killing me softly.

A fairy-tale romance. It isn’t mine to have. And this man I’ve come to love so dearly isn’t my happily ever after.

About Eighty-One Nights:

While the characters from Eighty-One Nights are entirely new, their storyline is a combination of fresh material and carefully selected themes, scenes, and settings from The Beauty Series, The Sin Trilogy, Dear Agony, and Indulge. This is intentional. I chose some of my favorite elements from previous releases and interjected them into Hutch and Lou’s story. Let’s call it a “story fusion” between our old favorites and new material. This work was briefly released under a pen name and was titled The Girlfriend Experience.

Excerpt:

“No one gets to call you a whore.”

“You can.”

He stops eating and looks at me. “I’d never degrade you by calling you a whore.”

“Not a whore. Your whore. There’s a difference.”

I can almost see the wheels turning in Hutch’s head. “You’re my whore?”

“Yes. Only yours.”

“My whore.” He grins. “I don’t think that I’m supposed to like that, but I do.”

“And I don’t think I’m supposed to like being your whore, but I do. Very much.”

He reaches out for my hand and brings it to his mouth, kissing it. “You never cease to amaze me.”

“Dirty talk. Never underestimate the power of it.”

Review: Helena Hunting's "Meet Cute."

Synopsis:

Talk about an embarrassing introduction. On her first day of law school, Kailyn ran - quite literally - into the actor she crushed on as a teenager, ending with him sprawled on top of her. Mortified to discover the Daxton Hughes was also a student in her class, her embarrassment over their meet-cute quickly turned into a friendship she never expected. Of course, she never saw his betrayal coming either...

Now, eight years later, Dax is in her office asking for legal advice. Despite her anger, Kailyn can't help feeling sorry for the devastated man who just became sole guardian to his thirteen-year-old sister. But when her boss gets wind of Kailyn's new celebrity client, there's even more at stake than Dax's custody issues: if she gets Dax to work at their firm, she'll be promoted to partner.

The more time Kailyn spends with Dax and his sister, the more she starts to feel like a family, and the more she realizes the chemistry they had all those years ago is as fresh as ever. But will they be able to forgive the mistakes of the past, or will one betrayal lead to another?

Review: Jo

Wow! This book was not at all what I was expecting. When I first saw the cover for “Meet Cute”, I anticipated a sweet and fun romance that would make me swoon, but as the saying goes, this was a book that I should not have judged by the cover. Whilst this novel was sweet and fun, It also turned out to both emotional and heartwarming. I loved everything about it. From the first word to the last.

"If it wasn't already clear, I think you're gorgeous exactly the way you are."

I absolutely loved the main three characters involved in this novel. I enjoyed getting to know Kailyn and Dax, discovering how the couple first met and learning all about their history together. Kailyn was the most loveliest of heroines and Dax was a beautiful surprise. A man that was once a child star, but now had his life irrevocably changed. I had a lot of respect and admiration for the way he handled the situation he was in. And I can’t forget Emme, who brought a lot of joy and fun to the story, yet at the same time my heart did hurt for her throughout many times during the course of the story.

"...you make the difficult days easier."

I adored watching the relationship grow and develop between these characters. I loved how quickly they all seemed to gel to form a little family, to support and love one another when love was needed the most. During the progression of this story, there were moments that caused me pain and also made my heart race. During The final few chapters the book was simply unputdownable. I was consumed with what was happening, desperate to know more. Out of a heartbreaking situation emerged something that was truly perfect. You really have to have a heart of stone to not be effected by this captivating and romantic tale.

"Sometimes the darkest tragedies bring us the brightest lights.
I'm lucky enough to have found not one, but two."

"Meet Cute" is most definitely one of my favourites from Helena Hunting. It’s needless to say that it gets a big ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.
